"Remember The Sneakerheads"

first pair of og's... playoff 11's.
funny how they just retro'd and i say that
but yeah i was 5 and still to this day have to clue how i talked my dad into getting them since everything i had before hand were just basic cheap nike's

I was thinking about this a couple nights ago watching the Martin episode when he gives the white/black XIIs to a kid for Christmas.

Up until the XIs there was just 1 Jordan model with 1 colorway released at a time i.e. white/black XIs around Nov/Dec 1995, white/carolinas in Feb, black/reds in March and then IE lows during the Spring. Then the Jumpman Pros came out right after the XIs which made 2 Jordan models available for the Summer. Then the Jumpman Teams for Eddie Jones and Vin Baker came out the following Nov/Dec when the XIIs came out. Overall it was a slower development with more time between releases up until around 2006/2007.

Now they just play Nike ID with every shoe, make a new colorway and call it a limited release even though they come out monthly.

you know you're an og when you remember jcpenney's and nordstrom used to carry jordans.
When you hated the xi's when they 1st came out. (or maybe that was just me)
Back when jordans were just known as the old jordans or new jordans. no number association.
I think everything else was covered.
I said that on another post. People were not feeling the XI's when they first released, LOL.!

I got most of my XI retros from JC Penny and Nordstroms.

I remember in GA Foams use to stay in the Outlets, and the 9s and Mocha 3s were in Eastbay for like 2 years on clearance.

One of the best feelings was moms checking me out of school on release day and me showing back up around lunch with the "new J's". The nostalgia is whats missing with the younger cats, there is no emotional connection with the shoes. Some of those old jordan commercials still make me smile. (XII's commercial damn near brought a tear to my eye)

Don't forget Big 5. Carnivores, Huaraches $19-39 bucks.

Laneys were $49.99 at FA at Fox Hills.

Heck..ATHLETES FOOT!  They started the whole early release for J's back in the day.

Foams were in the outlets cause EVERYONE except the DC area and New York, thought they were ugly "Moon Boots"...

In the DMV Shoe City in the 90's was better than ANY shoe store now a days..

It aint the same, man. It just aint.

I remember growing up, the 13s to me... were the jordans with the hologram circle on the side.

thinking that the patent leather on the 11s was gonna melt while i was playing outside.

man, recess in brand new jordans all the time. didn't give a damn about a scuff.

i remember "mama can i wear them now" while she was paying for them at the register.

Who ever came up with word bred needs to be "dealt with"
Exactly. This is why every shoe has a nickname now.

What I don't understand is how and why Foamposites are the most popular shoe now? The past 3-4 years they've been selling out everywhere but before then you could walk into Footlocker and get any pair on clearance for $79.99.

Jordan Love Truck >

Still got my poster from it too. Been meaning to get it framed since then lol.

I remember cutting school to go to it and my dad whooped my *** when the school called and said " I'd understand if you cut school for some cutty....but for SHOES?!"

The days when your friends used to say you were tripping for knowing what shoes were coming out months in advanced.

I remember the Mondays after every release I copped. Everyone that had em tried to go extra hard on Monday and put them back in the box got a few days.

Getting a job at McDonalds at 16 just to have Jordan money when my moms wouldn't buy kicks that cost $150.

Waking up at 5AM just to get to South Lake Mall at 6AM just to be at finish line when the doors opened for the flint 13s.

The days when there were just a few people scattered about rather than ridiculous lines.

I can't wait for this fad to be over.

man i remember i used to be so thirsty looking up colorways, and i used to have that japan magazine that had mad jordans cats never seen before. When the 11 first retro'd and they had snakeskin on em. That was the moment i knew i was never not gonna stop even as i get older i can never stop. i feel like Jordan brand did justice this christmas, i feel like if you really wanted the blk/red 11's you got them.

JB will do the 11s justice when they retro them like every other signature shoe on the Jordan line. That means new colors and more than one release per year.

^^^ dont you think new colorwaywill tarnish the shoe, i mean look at those 9's that just came out, straight do do butter.

Social Networking is to blame. Now folks are trying to keep up with the Jones' and it isn't just your neighbor or the kid down the street. Its the Kid in England who is killing it. Or the guy with the "connects".

I remember getting Jordans as a kid and doing his moves in my driveway. I still remember my 5th grade outfit with the Infrared 6s. I fought my half brother over my Cardinal 7s. Dude tried them on and knew his feet were too big. >D

I was never rich enough to stock sneakers. They were always worn.

I remeber thinking 99.00 was alot for shoes. Or 79.00 was to much for the Olives and Mochas after Eastbay tried ti give them away, LOL.

Stocking kicks never even entered my mind back in the day. It was hard enough to get moms to buy ONE pair at 100+ and I wore them joints daily.

EXACTLY! I got 3 pairs of shoes per year. Start of School, Christmas, and a random spring pair. That was it.
