PACIFIM RIM -- directed by Guillermo Del Toro

Anyone else thinks Del Toro should design monsters for Final Fantasy games? All the Kaiju gave off that vibe while I was watching it
well ff games are made by a japanese developer and kaiju are Japanese created monsters so i would assume that they are suppose to

How about just a FF movie? Del Toro can certainly make that world come to life. Pans Labyrinth and Hellboy had great worlds/environments and creatures in it.

Just seen it and i really enjoyed as a whole, but i didn't think it wad better than the first Transformers. Honestly, i don't want to compare the two since they're exactly the same movie.

Checked this out last night (online). Enjoyed it.

Kinda silly but while watching this, I kept thinking to myself, "they're utilizing all this advanced technology and engineering to build giant fighting robots, and yet they're still driving around in cars that look like boxed Chevys, wtf?"...

Economy is down? Seems like all the funds were going to the wall they wanted to build that the Kaijus tore through like it was tissue paper.

I guess...

Can you imagine all the neo-cons in that alternate reality though? "Damn government is overtaxing me so they can build stupid robots. Those robots are unconstitutional and a violation of my liberties...."

The movie was pretty much the avengers storyline. even down to him taking a nuke into the wormhole and barely making it out.

 not really plus the pic you used was from IM1.

Avengers has 1-man with an alien army attacking Earth as a revenge to his brother.
PR has "aliens" that's been to earth millions of years ago and came back to live in it.
Avengers nuke wasn't planned, it was just released on the city and IM just happens to bring it to the portal.
PRs nuke was planned and was no coincidence.

The heroes barely making it at the last minute isn't original to Avengers, it's actually a cliche.

haven't read through this thread because i didn't want to be spoiled.

but this def seems like a movie to see in imax 3d. is it worth it?

or is regular 2d good enough.

I didn't realize sending a nuke through a wormhole was a cliche'.

PLease aware me of this genre,

he didn't say that....

he said the hero barely making it at the last second was a cliche....

but the actual nuke idea, has been done for 10+ years, think Independence Day, Armageddon...

You can add Oblivion to that as well

I watched Transformers yesterday and this again today.

The only thing they have in common is robots.

The comedy in the first Transformers is underrated though the parents were funny.

Transformers had that forced romance part and pacific rim had the forced scientist parts

The other negatives I see is that there should have been more shine for Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon.

I had no problem with the two scientists. They gave the film more of a anime-like vibe. At least imo.

Transformers was the Chronciles of Sam Witwitky and the Autobots. Pacific Rim had monsters fighting robots 5 minutes into the movies.

Nothing Transformers related prior to those movies ever focused on human characters.

The or stars of Pacific Rim was the robots and monsters, the star of Transformers was Shia LeBouf.

Just saw it in Imax 3d.. not worth it... got a little too loud. 3d was an ok touch but if you see it at a normal theater you won't miss much

Yeah, they should've gave more shine to those 2 Jaegers that were taken out so quickly. Would've liked to see a big brawl between all the Jaegers and the Kaijus.
