WASHINGTON, D.C. --

If starting Thursday you find you don't have to reach for the remote control to lower the volume of blaring commercials on your TV set, you may consider a thank you to U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.

The Rhode Island Democrat sponsored the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act -- known as CALM -- that mandates TV commercials be no louder than the programming they interrupt. It takes effect Thursday.

Thought this was about that LOUD clothing brand.  Thought homeboy can up with a genius marketing plan.  Guess not
 
I always thought it was my TV just tripping :lol: didn't really know companys had the ability to control the volume of an ad.

when i lived at home and out of nowhere it get's ridiculously loud and my dad's like "turn your tv down!"

like, "dawg OBVIOUSLY it ain't been this loud until 2 seconds ago...eat a **** pops"
so yeah...this makes me happy :D
 
Hate that **** man. Be sleeping on the couch and all of a sudden a loud *** commercial come on haha

Another terrible commerical. It aired during every commercial break this season on The Walking Dead.
 
I thought this was a pretty good commercial.  The last time I felt like that was in 98, and it was the commercial of the 13's with Stevie Wonder playing during it.  And the other one for JB with "Uma Says" playing.

I can't remember the last time I heard a commercial.

I always mute from when the segment ends till it starts.
 
:lol: bet marketers are mad about this. That was one of their weapons to get people to take notice of commercials. My parents never believed me when I told them they have the ability to raise the volume during commercials, they always blamed each other using the RC somehow to raise the volume. :smh:

i always thought i was the only one who does this! my dad and everyone I know thinks it's weird i mute commercials, it's like why would i want to voluntary let myself be advertised to at will???

I think it will eventually be a feature that cable/fios/dish tv customers get where it just automatically mutes during commercial segments

TV ads... Dnt care for, but aight I can deal with it.

Web ads... Ok I'm annoyed, but I'll just mute the computer.

Movie theater ads... Oh **** naw what the ****!? :smh:
 
they just need to get rid of commercials period, i hate having a commercial come up then i change it to another channel and a commercial is on also, small steps i guess.
