can someone explain to me what a cornball brother is?

Not sure if somebody already replied to you, but apparently a cornball brother is one who is college educated, is doing well for himself, and "speaks well".

In reality it's Rob Parker and Tyga.

Wrong, because it's not about a College education, doing well for yourself, it's about how you carry yourself.

There are plenty cornball brothers, and Alan Keyes, the one who ran for President, is also one of them. Another cat who's card needs to be pulled is Chad Ocho Cinco, for blathering like a hen pecked buffoon on First Take, over that gold diggin' idiot that he married.

So, if dude wants to know what a cornball brother actually is, it's a cat that bends over backward in order to please others, regardless of how he'll appear to those who know better.

Cornball brothers = Flakes

why do people continue to bring up the "speaking well" point. Look at Obama for example. Dude is 1 of the coolest people around. Where as somebody like Tiger woods is a cornball. To me, cornball means uncool. Not whether or not somebody is black enough. I dont know rg3 enough to say hes uncool.

I was at a work christmas party with my girl in DC....white man walks up to me from behind, pats my shoulder and says "oh I thought that was rg3" then does the rich white man laugh :smh:

My dreads were braided and look nice....nothing like that Gerald Wallace/RGIII/WNBA non-sense

WHoa whoa whoa lets not bring Gerald Wallace into this lol
But lmfao at Rob Parkers dumb *** for these comments especially the one where he says if you got braids you're black

Lol at Stephen A's comment afterwards too

People bring up the speaking well part because they think they are a magical uknow and feel some type of kin ship with RG3 cause they feel they "speak well" when that stuff is a myth. Stuff always makes me angry cause it doesn't really even make sense unless somebody sounds like a dummy everybody else speaks well enough lol.

Yeah I agree I wish this Nick Cannon types stop trying to play the victim game and accept yall corny to certain people with/without degrees and thats just life. If you don't like it change who you are otherwise KIM. I'm pretty sure its cats that don't like how I act but hey I'm good with it so I won't be changing anytime soon. I'm also not whining everytime I get a chance about how people say I'm a cornball or whatever they would say negative about me. Makes me think these types of dudes don't like they lot in life in that regard.

Definitely agree it's how you carry yourself. But that's to us obvious folks with common sense, not to the Rob Parker types who are trying to find something to pick at. I mean, I don't know RG3 myself, but just from seeing him on tv with Baylor and the Skins, I'm honestly trying to figure out exactly what's wrong that made Parker reach for straws. Other people in this thread mentioned that's his M.O., so I guess that's just his thing, nonsense.

Eh, you can't use the insecurity card for everything man.

In this particular case, what is it? I think insecurities is the main cause for putting down the next man for valuing education, speaking properly, and for being himself.

Bottom line is this. The only people who would view RG3 as a "cornball brotha" are those mf's that don't live in the hood and just dip and run. I live in the hood and we all look at RG3 the same as we do Cam, Vick or whoever else. Everybody has their own swag (I hate using that word btw) and RG3 is no exception. Son likes to wear crazy socks, has braids and plays with charisma. He does his own little showboat s*** after a big play just like everyone else does. Being a republican doesn't make you "white", hell, they have white democrats, so what the f*** does it matter?!

Lame mf's like Rob Parker are just jealous mf's. Remember that episode where he and all those other writers were trying to bridge the "toughness gap" between football and writing? I was like "Get the f*** ALL the way outta here!" They just want the fame, notoriety and respect that football players get. That's why at every instance, they try to bring football players and all athletes down and talk about how difficult it is in their profession. Got Stephen A. constantly suckin Skip's d*** about how much great work he did how long he's been doing it and vice versa. Nobody gives a f*** about you writers except your peers. You're alone!

I stopped reading and taking columns seriously when on First Take, they would ask an ex-football player about the locker room feel. Christian Fauria would tell them what the deal is and they'd say he was wrong. HE ACTUALLY PLAYED ON A PROFESSIONAL TEAM! HOW YOU GONNA DISCREDIT HIM! YOU'RE A NERD THAT WAS NEVER IN A LOCKER ROOM AS A PLAYER!

F*** Rob Parker and everything he stands for. My bad for the ramble fambs. Done.

When you are excelling at something, they try to find something wrong with you. If they can't find something wrong, then they create it. :smh:

It's amazing to me how some people are quick to judge someone. People are saying that they would make fun of him if it wasn't for his athletic abilities? It just shows how superficial kids and people in general are. Just because he is different?

He doesn't owe anybody anything. He doesn't owe black people anything. He doesn't have to live up to anybodies standards except his own. Neither does any athlete or any public figure. Is he down for the cause? What cause would that be? Does he embrace black culture? What is black culture? How about we define what those things are first before we accuse someone of denying them. All black people are not of the same culture. We also have different backgrounds just like every other ethnicity.

Let the kid be himself. If his life doesn't fit into your templates and definitions then I guess you can be mad about it and label him but you are only making yourself look like a fool full of ignorance.

While we are not monolithic, we are still defined by, and through, the color of our skin in this country, and then most parts of the world.

So if a Black man that is on the public stage decided to denounce all of the rights that we've fought for, like justice Clarence Thomas, he as a black man, will be used by those who do not have our best interests, due to the color of our skin, in mind.

Now, you can say that you are from a different culture all that you want, but once that police officer calls you the N Word, then being mistaken for someone else, you'll then know exactly who you are in this country.

Ask Professor Henry Louis Gates about that one.

I can't believe I'm saying this but......I agree

I understand the police and the law can define us as one, trust me I am not ignorant to that fact. What the law says does not define our many different cultures and our identities. I can understand anger and backlash if he denounced the color of his skin/or any rights that were fought for but RG3 never did that. What I am saying is that he doesn't have to live up to a mold made by someone else. Especially when that mold by definition isn't strong enough to hold it's shape. Why not live with your own intuition while respecting what the civil rights did and others fought for?

why does he seem like he's someone that bends over backwards though? he seems very genuine to me

In regard to  RGIII? I have no clue. I don't know what Rob Parker claims to know, but I can state with some certainty, that once a Black Man makes a conscious effort toward whites to show that he is not one of us, that brother has some serious issues to deal with, deep within himself.

I can understand not wanting to be viewed in a stereotypical fashion, and I most certainly understand not wanting to be a victim, but the problem lies in the fact that once you start kissing the *** of your oppressor in order to get ahead, being a sellout isn't a strong enough term to describe this sort of fellow.

For the record, I don't know anything about RGIII, so my comments on the matter are not about him, they are about perception, and brothers, sisters as well, who behave in that fashion.
