Anyone watching First Take??? Rob Parker just said is "Is RG3 a brother or a cornball brother"

How can RG3 be a "Cornball brother" if he has Afrocentric braids?! >D

So because he is apart of the Republican Party and has a white fiancé he's white washed?!

Rob Parker is one of my fav Sports commentators/analysts/writers but he sounds like a pure negro for makin' such a foolish claim.

and you know what, it's comments of people such as these, that will never ever allow blacks and white and everything in between to co-exist without any issues.. it always comes back to the color of your skin, just because you believe or think differently makes you a "fake" brother, or it makes white people "******s"..

people are so narrow minded that issues like this will never go away..

i dont like rob parker.. dude is an idiot! like he's more black than RGIII, simply because his fiancee is white and he speaks proper english? ****... just like people that would not vote for obama if his wife was white...

that's just pitiful

This whole time I thought marrying a white girl is the one thing that was guaranteed to give you "black" points.

Ive been living a lie.

Co-signing this 100% my dude.

Don't know RG3 personally and I didn't see the video of the First Take comments to judge appropriateness and context....but if you're a young black man that votes Republican and marries white in 2012....you're a cornball in my eyes too.

Some outright racist comments in this thread and this is just one of them. What if let's say Andrew Luck married a black woman and voted Democrat. If somebody said "if he's a democrat and marrying a black woman then he's (insert any negative word here) in my eyes" he would get mauled on here and rightfully so. I seriously cannot believe the mentality some people on here have. Hating on a dude for marrying outside his race? Like you said, it's 2012 man. Get a grip.

Save that bleeding heart, kumbaya, "I have a dream" nonsense for stuff for someone else.

If you're a young athlete getting married this early and forgoing all that good coochie in the first place...you're most likely a cornball.

If you're a star black athlete and you're falling for the Nicole Simpson gaffe in your early 20's....you're most likely a cornball.

If you're a young black dude voting Republican during the Obama era.....you're most likely a cornball.

Now I can understand one of those 2 things happening. You meet a really cool white girl in school and she's down for you, so you tie that knot early...I think that's stupid but I can understand it. I can also understand not feeling Obama's policies and voting Republican to make a political statement. But being a superstar black athlete, proposing to a below average white girl @ 21 and voting Republican with people like Mr. 47% and Sarah Palin representing the Republican party....the odds of you being a cornball black dude just increased astronomically.

I got cousins like this out of state...they know that they're cornballs and they're cool with it.

That doesn't mean I hate them or I'm "holding them down". It just is what it is.

Thank you Goldenchild great points. It's whole combination of all his actions, beliefs, and decisions.

One thing I'd like to add here. When some of you suggest that the disgust is about speaking well, this is not a compliment toward the person being considered the corn ball.

When some of you suggest that this has something to do with being educated, your very own not so subtle racist values, are rearing their ugly little heads.

Eurocentric and Western values are not the only standards of excellence that exist you know.

this is how prejudice starts and hating on people without even knowing them. just cause they have different beliefs you're gonna trash them. when you just stated you dont know him personally.. so basically that just makes you ignorant for passing judgment on someone you dont personally know, but you base your opinion on his beliefs and how he is portrayed through the media.. very intelligent bro

I'm not hating on dude or trashing him.

You all watched The Fresh Prince of Belair.....Carlton was the cornball brother, this was made very clear, yet we all laughed at it then....so please hop off of those hypocritical high horses now.

Will didn't hate Carlton because he pointed this out and neither did the viewers....but the paradigm was clear.

This is a cultural nuance of the "black community" and we have every right to it, just like every other group has theirs.

I hear no uproar when white kids are labeled as "wigg@s" but when a black person looks at things through their cultural lens, there's always a crowd of people chiming in about how wrong it is.

It's ok for white people to make the ridicule of Caucasians, whom embrace Black culture, mainstream...but let a Black man call out what he views to be one a cornball brother and its a firestorm.

Like I said...save me the undermining and disingenuous political correctedness, I'm a student of Anthropology and Sociology.

Don't laugh at this for a decade.....

Then try to lecture people about honestly speaking on the same paradigm in real life.

If he was unmarried and had 4 kids by 21with 4 different mothers, 2 of them black, would he be less of a cornball?

You dudes sound dumb.  They were dating from the jump and hes from a christian and military family.  He was raised well. He doesnt **** around. He found a good girl he liked and locked her down.  Who cares what race she is.

But you right.  That's corny.

In response to your Fresh Prince of Bel Aire comment, One of the running jokes was how badly Carlton wanted to go to Princeton and be a legacy there and ultimately succeed in corporate America, and Will who just wanted to chill and (until very late in the series) was cool with just getting by, always ridiculed him for it.  And everyone laughed at Carlton.

This is the example you chose to support your point?

Some of you super Black ****** need to look in a mirror.

So a cornball brother is essentially a black man that doesn't abide by stereotypes? I think on paper I'd be considered a "cornball brother". I'll probably end up marrying a white woman, I hate Jesus, my favorite movie is Ps I Love You, I watch CSPAN for entertainment purposes, and I have sat through one episode of Frazier and chuckled once.

^there was also an episode where Will and Carlton try joining a black frat, and Will stands up for Carlton after Carlton is rejected for not being black enough.

I've chuckled more than once at Frazier. At me? Come.

No he'd be labeled a thug, clown, goon, pimp, womanizer, idiot....but it seems like those titles are more readily accepted and thrown around at black athletes than "cornball".

I see and hear athletes, particularly black ones, splattered with those adjectives all the time.....but dare to offend white sensibilities by questioning a persons "black cultural acumen and allegiance"....and every one is up in arms.

Funny stuff.

Anytime a black man tries to make a better life for himself by being educated and speaking proper, he's automatically a "sell out" :smh:
