Anyone watching First Take??? Rob Parker just said is "Is RG3 a brother or a cornball brother"

Yeah, cause the Republican party really cares about black people or the black community as a whole right......

.
how did you feel about jay-z at the time he called himself a black republican?

serious question
I took it as a song, not that he (Shawn Carter) was referring to himself as a republican.
not surprised deuceking is taking the stance that he is.

i mean, this is the same guy who apparently knows more about the civil rights movement than huey newton
I'm not even sure who you are or what your referring to, so good luck with that.

DeuceKing,

Man you are better than this. Stop with your nonsense.
There was no nonsense posting on my end, if you feel there was please point it out and speak on it.

Edit--

Also, after carefully hearing the entirety of the RG3 quote (it's towards the end of the podcast) I personally don't think RG3 was trying to distance himself from being black.  Don't just look at 1 minute plus video that was posted, try to hear the entire conversation back and forth if you get a chance or at least the beginning of it so you can try to have a better understanding on the matter.  I think RG3 was just trying to say that he doesn't want to be seen as just a "black quarterback" but that he wants to be seen as a quarterback.  Meaning don't just put him up against Vick and Newton, but put him up against the Mannings, Rodgers, or Brady, etc.

I get some of the points that Rob Parker was trying to make, just some not all.  Particularly the point about certain successful black people or people that are seen as black

trying to distance themselves from being called black, and Rob Parker brought up a great example of this in Tiger Woods.
Do the Dems?
More so or a better job than that of the Republican party that's for damn sure.

If he doesn't know the man personally, what truth is there?
Since when do you need to know someone personally in order for there to be or possibly be truth to something??
he said he's a cornball "not down for the cause" because he said he doesn't want to be classified as [just being black] (what he meant by that statement was "as just a black QB" but let's pretend he meant, "i don't want to just be classified as a black man.")  if you don't know him personally, how could u say any of that?

if i told you, "all you are is a black man."  would you nod and agree?

Just based upon that alone, personally I would say "I'm a black man, and I'm more than just that" given the way or manner I felt your statement came across to me.

Maybe it's a good thread for general to delve deeper into...it would be interesting to hear other people's POVs on what a black man SHOULD represent and where this disdain for the next man comes from?
anyways, here's the vid

i mean me & my homeboys have had this convo bout rg3, but i dont think its that serious to where it should be discussed in the media. & that was awkward as hell to watch

Dude should be focused on how to fix that Eddie Munster hairline rather than who or who cant be considered "a real brother" :rolleyes

Ok, let me break this down for you. Every race has a derogatory way of describing their own race. In the black community, if a black man acts white, or deny's his own color to earn brownie points with the masses, blacks will call him a cornball or a sell-out. Everyone knows the history of this Country between blacks and whites. Some blacks felt like they needed to kiss the masses behind or act like them and deny their own race, just to get ahead. When RG3 stated what he said, immediately, that set off a red flag within the black community because we have seen this before with some blacks who deny their race. Blacks have a very hard time getting ahead in this country due to our race. That's just the truth and some feel like they have to go against their own culture to get ahead. Sadly, this happens in all races and it's the truth. Look at the media. There are a lot of interracial relationships, black women are consistently regarded as the less desirable race, black artists can't sing soul, blacks have to appeal to the masses in order to get a paycheck. I knew exactly what Rob Parker was saying and he is correct. He just didn't explain it correctly, but I give him the guts for saying it. It's just like in the white community. White people call their own people derogatory names such as "white trash" and "******'s." And they have their own reasons for doing so. You all can pretend this isn't true, but believe me the masses knows this. Please stop calling Rob a racist, he is just speaking the truth.

^Fam what youre saying is true but RG3 never said he doesnt want to be considered black he said he didnt want to be grouped in with the other black quarterbacks style of play simply because he's black. Rob Parker making it seem like RG3 is a self hatred kind of dude. I doubt that's the case.

RG3s fiance is ugly

I think Rob Parker should worry more about Aaron Rodgers' **** juice dripping from his lips everyday than questioning RG3.

Rob Parker is a dummy

Failing to see the "truth" Parker was speaking in the context of RG3...for something to be "true" it has to be factual. He had BASELESS comments on RGIII.

People so worried about the next man that they can't even get their own **** together. He came off looking like an absolute moron today.

ESPN PR on Rob Parker's comments today on First Take: "The comments were inappropriate and we are evaluating our next steps."

and there you have it. Should tell you something if SAS of all people were left dumbfounded.

what is hard to understand about what RG3 said...

He wants to be compared to Tom Brady too not just Randall Cunningham or Donovan McNabb.

He wants to be the best QB not the best black QB

I was at a work christmas party with my girl in DC....white man walks up to me from behind, pats my shoulder and says "oh I thought that was rg3" then does the rich white man laugh :smh:

My dreads were braided and look nice....nothing like that Gerald Wallace/RGIII/WNBA non-sense
Man you know they don't know the difference. Hence stuff like this :smh:

Anyone remember how White America kept saying Melo cut off his dreadlocks? hahahahah

Pretty much all that needs to be said. Parker/ESPN just reached for a story, and since they have a stranglehold on sports media, they went right for it like a pack of wolves.

Bob G Three is the six percent.
Rob Parker is still an idiot though.

from what i've seen of Rob Parker he is the epitome of what he is accusing RG3 of being. All he does is cosign skip bayless' nonsense...the fact that Skip did not get checked for that braids question
mean.gif
.

RG3 shouldn't have ever made that comment anyway......just let your actions off the field determine what you are......hell black women were already labeling him as that type of negro so obviously his actions were on point with what he wants to be seen as
