2013 NFL Draft thread - ( Early Entrees, Mocks, Combine etc )

Problem with the Lions isn't talent. It's clear it's discipline and along those lines - execution. They definitely need help in the secondary, but I'm convinced Schwartz has got to go. They have a great foundation even though I'm still not sold on their choices at the RB position. I don't really care much for Leshoure and Bell is decent. Best back on that team (with any decent amount of experience) was Kevin Smith, but he didn't get a chance at all after the first week. Best probably should retire, unfortunately.

Naw man the lions have the worst back 7 talent wise in the NFL

Offensively they should be better but they need an explosive pass catching back.

Somebody like Sproles would do work.

I'd draft the best ot or de with that first then target a safety in the 2nd.

What about Stevie Johnson's skillset says Elite?
great playmaker ability , think the one handed catch he made in the open field against seattle last week(finished with 8 receptions for 115 and at TD against a very elite secondary)

not to mention he's INCREDIBLY flexible

operates well in the slot and runs a a excellent 9 outside...

he consistently hurts defenders who press him , and can beat linebackers and has good size

you gotta remember this is the buffalo bills who give c.j spiller (arguably their most explosive player/playmaker) a handful of carries.

their play calling the last couple of years as a whole has been absolutely dreadful.

its not the problem , but a upgrade to the linebacker core the have over there would help wonders

manti t'eo would change the dynamic of that team on defense in my opinion

I'm saying that they have a great foundation of young talent at various spots (Stafford, Calvin, Fairley, Suh, Titus (pre-chaos)), and even though they can use upgrades, they have more than a lot of teams do and a lot of their losing stems from areas that have little to do with talent and more to do with things that stem from coaching.

Some NTers don't understand football
I mean in this thread alone we had someone say Aaron Rodgers brother will be better than him in the NFL
stop it, I said probably if he continues to improve, and I didn't explain it, but I meant if Aaron declines he'd could end up better.

i won't make any outlandish comments , but i think stevie has an outstanding toolset

and i wouldnt put it past him to be a consensus top 10 receiver with a pro bowl caliber quarterback.

similiar to what we saw with wes welkers and the dolphins/patriots.
exactly,  anyone who has watched Johnson play would know this.

Where does Ryan Nassib go? He's played in a pro style offense for four years and had his greatest year statistically this season. He has a cannon for an arm, good vision, can throw on the run and is mentally/physically tough. Seeing how there are teams out there that need a QB, could he go in the second round as projected by CBS Sports?

Thoughts on Ezekial Ansah? Dude is obviously an athletic freak and has limited years under his belt. I saw some highlight tapes on youtube on various teams. I saw the game against Notre Dame, but didnt think he was that impressive that he's a First Rounder.

CNNSI also has him as a 2nd round prospect.

Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse: Nassib is ascending draft boards and quickly becoming one of the hot names in the scouting community. He's a terrific leader on the field with the arm strength necessary to make all the throws. Nassib makes good decisions in the pocket, squeezes the most from the talent surrounding him and has most believing he'll have a productive NFL career. 2nd Round

Lions needs.

Center, badly. Should be our first pick depending on who is available and the draft spot.
Guard. Desperately need a replacement for Stephen Peterman.
Saftey, someone to play next to Delmas that can stay healthy.
Corner, damn this has been a need forever, time to address it.
LB, Deandre Levy is the worst starting linebacker in the league, PERIOD.

This is a lot of needs for a team that I thought was ready to make it to the next level. A lot of what has happened this season though has been coaching. Scott Linehan should be banned from the NFL he is that ******g bad. Never have I seen an offense put up so many yards and fail to be able to make plays in the redzone where it counts. His playcalling is some of the worst I have ever seen, and there is absolutely no creativity in the doofus' head, everything is so vanilla. Schwartz is going to stick around regardless since they signed him to a contract extension so I have already coped with that, but I think Linehan and Cunningham have to go. Things need to be shaken up. Also we need to start getting production out of the late round picks. So far it seems the past 2 years have been full of guys after the 2nd rd who haven't even had a chance to play in a game, that is not acceptable. And when your only FA move is picking up Jacob Lacey, and reject from a league worse Colts team, I guess that should have been the writing on the wall with the way the season was going to go.

I think every team could find use out of drafting a corner. Except for probably Seattle. They're stacked at the position.

I need the Vikings to get another playmaker. More particularly at WR. Tavon Austin would be a good replacement for Percy. I'd love for them to go after Cordarelle, but with Ponder at quarterback, I think they need the most NFL ready route runner and Cordarelle is rather raw. Don't know if they would go for it...I probably would.

I don't think Denver needs a corner. Chris Harris is very good and Tony Carter and Tracy Porter (if re-signed) are above-average nickel and dime corners. Where they need help is at safety and they could also use a LB capable of defending the pass because TEs have eaten up that defense all year.
