I dont have my pair yet since my brother picked them up overseas but he said it's better then Chicago 1s...He has my pair of the knicks and I have his pair of the Chicago 1s so we're waiting to exchange.. 
But he was able to compare the two side by side and he said the Knicks leather and materials were better on that pair.

I passed on both but from reading both threads people are saying that the Knicks leather is a tad........and they were really emphatic that it was JUST A TAD better than the Chicagos.
I would say they were somewhat satisfied with the Knicks release. We have to remember this is NT though, nobody is ever satisfied.

The leather on the Knicks were nice and soft. It didnt have that synthetic leather smell or stiff feel. I'm positive the Blk Toes wont be as bad as the Chicago 1's.

Well, the people who said that they are a tad bit better are ignorant bcuz the Knicks leather is substantially better than the Chicago 1's. They need to inspect them again and learn something...but hey...maybe it's better they don't know and pass on releases in the future.

Last seen as part of the "Old Love, New Love" Pack back in 2006, next year will see the return of the iconic "Black Toe" Air Jordan 1 Retro.
The timeless Air Jordan I will return next summer in original form, sporting classic Nike Air branding on the tongue and no Jumpman logos. Just like past versions of the classic "Black Toe" AJ I, we see smooth leather building the entire upper. A classic Bulls color scheme is put to use, with the black toecap setting them apart from the most-recognized OG AJ I colorway.
The "Black Toe" Air Jordan 1 Retro is scheduled to release next May at select Jordan Brand accounts nationwide.

I will have these 2x. Along my 2 pairs of Banneds and Knicks, I plan on having every Nike Air AJ1 that releases to pretty much complete my 1 collection. At least that's the plan.
Also: MAY 18 is the release date for these as far as I know.
