Official DragonBall Z Thread. R.I.P Akira Toriyama. You will be missed

Just watched the first broly movie...such wasted potential in my opinion. he'd be a great character in the canon storyline. a sayain that first hated goku but eventually become part of the z gang.

I think what makes Broly who he is, is his unstable mind so I can't see him every joining the Z warriors, but I would be cool if he was introduced into the canon.

I would mean "join" very loosely. he'd have the whole "you cant kill goku because i want ti kill goku angle" and help when ever their interests intersect. Especially with the new God powers broly wouldnt be beating anyone anytime soon. With this whole other universes and timeline business that theyve been exploring in other dragon ball media over the past 10 or so years there is definitely some room to pull some stuff into the main timeline and not have it be outrageous.

He's better as a movie villain in my opinion. Same with Cooler, Turles, and pretty much every movie villain in fact. I've just never seen any type of long-term storytelling potential in the character. And realistically speaking his reasoning for hating Goku is dumb as ****.

If we're talking about Movie Characters who should have had Sagas.... Super Janemba. It would have given Fusion more purpose, Goku would have been able to master SSJ3, etc etc.

Broly beat SSJ2 Gohan in Broly Second Coming, in fact he was washing Gohan and it made NO SENSE.

I really wonder if they ever cared about anything when making these movies at times.

Do you think SSJ 2 Gohan> Broly? Broly was washing multiple SSJ in the movie with not much effort.

I would say so. Especially Gohan at his peak, either way I cant see why Broly should have handled Gohan the way he did.

I can see how broly beat Gohan. He had the power boost after recovering from near death and gohan hadn't been training for a few years. If gohan was at his peak like at the cell games it would've been a much closer fight. I would actually want to see that

Yeah you have to remember that SS2 Gohan when he faced Broly was weaker than he was when he fought Cell (As both Goku and Vegeta noted), due to the severe lack of training. Throw in Broly being wounded and recovering from his first fight with the Z fighters, along with the fact that he was already stronger than them during that fight and I think it makes sense for him to be stronger than Gohan.

Irrelevant, broly isn't canon

Which doesn't then mean credible reasons for things that happen in non-canon works don't exist.

It was just weird that they showed Broly dominating SSJ2 Gohan with the same ease he was dominating the SSJ1s. They should have been trading blows at the very least. This movie really could have been a lot better than what they made it out to be if the power gap between Gohan and Broly wasnt that wide, which I am still not buying. If LSSJ is dominating SSJ2 like that then Broly might as been able to beat SSJ3 just to keep the crazy legend alive.

And as per usual there is no point in the DBZ timeline where this movie could have happened. Videl is around and Goten knows who Goku is, yet Goku is still dead.......
