Goku was also dead because he chose to remain dead, because of some ******** logic about how Earth has only ever been in danger because of him 
Mystic Gohan>SS2 Gohan and Goku had nothing to do with that so...Furthermore, Gohan reaching SS2 in no way required that Goku send him in unprepared to fight Cell There's zero logic behind doing that and it nearly saw the entire planet end up as ash if not for 16. Even Goku realized he was wrong after Piccolo called him out. Go ahead and keep making excuses for your patron saint Goku as if he doesn't consistently make bad decisions though

Managed to discover SS3, but couldn't watch over his son to make sure that Gohan kept up with his training or even that he was doing alright as the man of the house Terrible, just plain terrible.

Goku left the planets protection with his oldest son, pretty sure he was comfortable with him taking care of his own mom. The movies aren't canon BUT they do fit relatively well in the storyline for them not to be. Goku came and had to man Gohan up again for Bojack. Came back and had a turtle hermet wave gathering with his 2 sons at the behest of his youngest son. Your son ain't wanting you back around if your such a bad guy.
Let's go ahead and take GT into account while we're at it, where he abandons his family again to spend time training Uub, a kid he just met. Oh wait, that's the end of Z and he also does this once again without speaking to his wife about such a major decision Then he does the same. damn. thing. for the third time at the end of GT. Face it son, Goku ain't a family man and he's never tried to be. But of course you try to point out Vegeta's faults (Which are many anyways and really provide a terrible comparison) in order to shrug off Goku's Just as bad as Superman's fanboys.

What are we saying here? That Goku is an unfit parent because he gave his son's alpha genetics whether they chose to accept them or not? Goku knows what his seeds were capable of while Vegeta's seed messes up the space-time continuum anytime he's facing a problem. Chi-Chi is the definition of a down chick. She's not sweating Goku cause he's a provider. He goes and saves the world, tussles with alien tyrants, terminator-esque cyborgs, magical fat monsters and gods while she takes care of house and home. She knew what she signed up for and let Goku shoot the club up, TWICE.
Hence the Son Family needing Mr. Satan to bail them out at the start of Super. The thing about it is that they could actually be loaded for the same reason that Satan is, because fighters can make bank, but Goku isn't interested in money and supporting his family Just like no one said Vegeta was a perfect father in comparison. That's the typical tactic of a Goku lover though, let's go ahead and try to shift the focus to other topics or characters so we don't look too closely at Goku
