Wrestling Thread Dec 17-30 | 12/24 Raw - Cena v Del Rio, Bryan v Sandow | Merry Christmas!

So why did the Shield attack Mysterio and Sin Cara?

- After attacking various WWE Superstars this week, Seth Rollins of The Shield says everyone is accountable. He tweeted last night:

“We will not be burdened by the sins of those who came before us. Instead we will right the wrongs left behind by a generation of cowards. EVERYONE is accountable.”

- The Boogeyman was used on Monday’s RAW after his name was brought up a few weeks back and Vince McMahon popped for it big time, wanting to use him for the Slammys. There was talk of having The Boogeyman work a dark match, so officials could get a look at him, at last night’s Super SmackDown but that did not happen.

- Internally, there had been lots of talk about why they shouldn’t put AJ Lee with John Cena with the idea that Cena can’t be put with a girl because they’re afraid it will hurt him with the female audience. The feeling is that it’s fine to tease Cena being in a relationship but he can’t maintain one.

I think it's even more strange now that she's with Dolph especially after what he called her.

Pretty good match from '89 between The Rockers and The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, who have one of the most underrated themes of all-time in my opinion.

Iamnomodder is going ham with the old school caws this year for the 360

Have any of the caws that you've posted on here been released yet? I'm stoked about downloading all these!

- The latest word on Christian is that he will be back early-to-mid January.

- WWE United States Champion Antonio Cesaro continues to work with torn tendons and broken fingers in his right hand.

- There was concern at this week’s TV tapings that the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut may affect the product in some way because of an anti-violence media backlash, particularly when it comes to shows that draw kids. Vince McMahon told people that he expects to be targeted for the effect wrestling has on children, and that they will fight back with charity work and pushing the idea that WWE is family entertainment.

- Backstage at RAW this week, there was a lot of talk about how bad Bully Ray came off on Twitter with his comments about WWE TLC. Here’s what he wrote:

“Dudleys, Hardys, E&C…still the KINGS of TLC. Anybody doubt that? Of course not. #BULLYNATION”

- Ric Flair's return was something that had been scheduled for a few weeks but what his role would be was changed several times. Vince McMahon himself reportedly opened lines of communication with Flair about a month ago. They even discussed doing one angle that would have introduced his daughter, NXT Diva Charlotte.

There is nothing official on the books regarding Flair but it’s believed he will be back to do a short TV angle with CM Punk. The angle would not include a wrestling match as Vince McMahon has been adamant about not violating the terms of Flair’s 2008 retirement stipulation.

There had been talk of Flair not doing physical angles because of his age and what happened with Jerry Lawler. WWE obviously had a change of heart as the angle on Monday was their idea and not something he asked for. Flair came to Philadelphia for RAW and was ordered to first undergo an EKG to make sure he was healthy enough to do something physical. WWE wants him to take more medical testing because they do have plans to use him in the future in other physical angles.

For his return on Monday, Flair was hidden away in a trailer. There was some talk backstage that he would appear but nobody saw him.

Ric Flair was said to be happier than ever backstage at Monday’s RAW in Philadelphia. All of the younger WWE stars were gathered around monitors watching the segment with him, CM Punk and Paul Heyman. One person in the company said that the most over thing in the building all night was Flair’s angle and everyone loved it.

- Regarding the January 7th RAW with Ryback vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title, some sports writers are predicting that the BCS Championship game this year on the same night will do 31 million viewers and be the single most-watched cable TV program in history.

- It’s said that there are definitely wrestlers backstage who are concerned about their spot with WWE since officials have been introducing so many new characters from NXT such as Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, Big E Langston and Brad Maddox. Bryan Alvarez speculates that we may not see any roster cuts until the spring.

- As of last word, there is nothing on the table for Chris Jericho to return to WWE but both sides continue to negotiate. Jericho had been in talks to return for a WrestleMania 29 storyline.

- There has at least been talk that Sheamus going down with two clean losses to Big Show will set up him to win the Royal Rumble for the second year in a row. As noted before, Randy Orton vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title has been planned for WrestleMania 29.

--In the THQ bankruptcy filings, WWE is owed $45 million.  No wonder they are watching these proceedings closely.  I had heard Vince McMahon was furious and I guess that tells you why.
