We all have our views on reselling.... the good, the bad, the ugly.  For the past 4 months Jordan Brand possibly could be heavily testing a marketing strategy right under our noses... directed soley at resellers...which is not old at all.....re-releases (not restocks as they want to refer to them as).  If you haven't been keeping track since Sept. with the re-release of the entire Kilroy pack on DEC. 26th we will have a total of 7 Jordan's that have been re-released (5 were considered limited releases) not including the earlier ones from this year (charcoal 7's re-released in sept.)  (military 4's and fire red 4's as well referred to as restocks)..

This is good news to most ..

Are the upcoming "limited releases" really going to be GR's with split the quantities for a second release... first building the hype...second dropping a "limited quantity" next letting resellers buy up inventory and flood the resell market... then release again, bringing buyers back and eventually slowing the resell market?

Notice when a shoe is re-released the demand for it the second time goes down significantly unless of course if were a hot shoe or the xi's series but demand would still go down as most people who want a pair find a way to get a pair.

What's your thoughts...again this is only an observation and speculation but could very well be a new way to capitalize on the reseller market....  If so this will make resellers think twice about trying to stock up on any release if the fear of another re-release could be lurking a month or a few months later... and also keep buyers from succumbing to the 75-100+ mark-ups in hopes of getting the shoe they really want for retail.

I too have noticed how many releases have dropped again in the past few months. I think theyre definitely trying to defeat resell prices. I mean why should the public give that money to a reseller when they can give it directly to Jordan Brand? Nike Sportswear tried this a year or two ago with moderate success. If anything, it drove down the demand resell price on shoes that had a somewhat high resell value (Volt Griffeys, Pearl Foamposites, Auburn SC Trainers, QS SC Trainer II pack, Eggplants, etc)

The next on this list will be the Bred 11s. And just about every Jordan release in 2013 will be restocked at least once. Coupled with Facebook, expect to see all these releases next year sell for 130 at most

I don't think JB cares about resellers at all. If anything resellers help them sell through a retro shoe on release day.
JB doesn't care if their $160 comes from a reseller, a diehard collector, a basketball player, or a soccer mom.

If anything they'll just keep raising prices to meet the market of what people are willing to pay to resellers.

Like i seen someone say before its a damn shame that nowadays you have to be lucky enough to even win a CHANCE to purchase shoes now. Things are crazy and its getting out of hand.

well now that we all know that Finish Line , and Nike.com is doing restocks on the regular , its kind of a no brainer to NOT purchase pairs after there release date .

it all falls down to patience .

it does put a slight cripple on our sneaker society ( the true heads ) who love to wear these premium sneakers to steal the spot light at events / gatherings .

But if it means safety for beings then so be it ...

i am going to miss that feeling of walking into a baby shower or a get together and knowing no one else in the room has on the same pairs i have on .. and i can feel the jealousy hitting HARD lol .

i started to notice that nike had a trick up there sleeve when one of my buddies that works at FNL told me not to worry if i didnt get any pairs from now on .

he simply said " we got you bro just stay alert " .. guess he was right !

FNL mobie FTW .

they are gonna learn that most of the people buying these shoes are resellers once people stop buying from resellers, resellers are gonna stop buying and nike profits are gonna go down hence restocks ...

Tbh i dont think JB give a **** about resellers. They just do re-releases to make a little bit of extra cash. They're laughing all the way to the bank.
This is exactly how I feel, JB doesn't give a flying **** about any of it's customers. As long as people mindlessly hand over their cash Jordan is happy.

actually this would be the opposite of your theory, this would help resellers. If Jb release a shoe in limited quantities, re sellers would buy them all up and most people would have to look after market aka re sellers for a pair because buyers would not know that a restock or re release is coming. If Jb lets it be know to the consumer that they are releasing at different dates then that would end the reselling because if you missed the first date you can just wait until the next know release date and reseller can not hold onto product for a long extended period because they need the funds for the next release.

true heads aint only about breaking necks fam.  They usually just like the sneak/history/colorwy/model, etc.... Honestly ppl getting things for the spot light are more hype beast than heads or collectors.

If you copping shoes to break necks at a BABY SHOWER you a lame b

Sad you gotta buy shoes to raise your self esteem bro.

I see where you are coming from but this is whats happening now.  Most limited shoes are being bought up by resellers.   Since a Re-release is becoming a common practice most resellers only have a small window to capitalize on any potential profit.  Most smart "heads" who miss a shoe have the patience and can hold out as long as possible to cop at retail or close to it so news of re-releases would be music to our ears.  Notice how the re-release of the entire Kilroy package made a lot of us happy including myself as I was able to cop some MB Jones today at retail.  Keep in mind resellers target us...after a couple losses the short term resellers will drop out the market.. which is all most of us want...

I'm sorry but this is the stupidest **** I've ever read/heard. A "Man" should not worry about getting the spot light over sneakers.

Wow.

Before the re-stock, Motorboats were going for $325-$350.

After the re-stock, the Motorboats are going for $325-$350.

Re-sellers have created an artificial market that's kind of strange. Consumers are buying both to wear and to collect and to collect in order to sell later at a price above and beyond the artificial demand price point.

That throws off the curb.

The re-release just generates a collateral hype that vindicates the first one.

They're just going to be bought up by resellers and sat on or progressively fed to a starving consumer base. It's called monopolization.

You think that there is an oil shortage? Then why can oil producing nations influence the price so effectively.

Jordan is going to have to do what they don't want to do - flood the market time after time for a good year or two. But they won't do that because the thought of a $160 retro sitting on a shelf with a $119 sale sign is unpalatable and a risk not worth the reward. Not because they won't get paid, but because right now their advantage is liquidity. They can charge premiums and have leverage because the shoes sell.....FAST.

What they need to do is do NDC RSVP releases with questions that require people to look to find the answer and stop with the formulaic response stuff  (#, name, size). Ask a math or trivia question...anything that adds a variable that varies the response time for people.

There will still be demand, but you won't have the same people buying every release.

The best thing that JB could do to kill re sellers, is to increase accessibility to their product, it is as simple as that. Guys like me aren't going to wait in line, or pay an arm and a leg to buy shoes that we'd actually play ball in. If releasing them at different times where the re sellers don't know about it, so there is no buying them up, then this is the way to go.

I am all for it.

...and don't none of you posers give me that, Jordan retro's aren't meant to be played in bullcrap either. None of you play seriously enough, or perhaps even playing at all, for me to give a damn about your opinions on shoes.

Honestly.. I think this is an attempt to dent/dismantle the Consignment style model that is used by FC and a number of other stores. Since Nike/Jordan would much rather they purchase the kicks wholesale/ directly from the manufacturer.
