Would love feedback on this



First beat I've made in a few months after some writer's block. Took intro from Lose Yourself and chopped it. Thanks fellas
 
bought a pair of techs and a 56SL last april off of craigslist.  have been messing with them very sporadically ever since.  trying to learn from youtube videos and whatnot.  ive also been dabbling in producing in my spare time.  trying to figure out which aspect to focus more energy/time on but right now its been producing.  def wish i got into it earlier though when time was more available.  main question for you DJs is, when you're mixing hip hop, the majority of the time, are you beatmatching when you mix your next song in, or do you do some cuts and switch over without bothering?  what are some good techniques to mix songs with a large difference in bpm?
 
I like that this thread started with a nay-sayer who believed that it would go nowhere, but quickly turned into a lovely exchange of past work between members.  Successful thread is successful.   Everyone who has posted their music so far has excellent work to show off.  Certainly not as tough a crowd as 4chan, here.

Been posting on /mu/ as well. The feedback is harsh, but sometimes you need to hear it (as long as they aren't trolling). I actually really like that board.

How do you guys master volume across multiple projects? Is there a final dB you aim for? Everything I bounce from Reason or Logic ends up being quiet on Soundcloud/Bandcamp.

what kind of headphones or monitors are you mixing on?

I work Logic as well, What are your output settings on export, you might be saving in a low quality. I bounce my mp3s in 320 kbs for SoundCloud.

As far as Db, watch your levels and make sure your not peaking, thats the only thing i particularly aim for, each project i tend to go about different, but i always judge by ear.

I have some AKG headphones, the ones Fantano uses and reviewed (no fanboy). I better check my output settings. Not sure what I click but it ends up bouncing in .aiff.

I've tried exporting right up to the peak (or "red"), but it's always a little more quiet than other peoples' tracks.

Logic is bouncing in Aiff? 

You should be able to manually select your outbut on each Bounce.

Aiff should only be for "Recorded Audio" tracks

You might need to just peep some basic logic mixing tutorials. I did when i switched over from Reason 5 a few years ago. Helped out alot, especially on track space and my drums.
