OK...I just copped FL Studio 11. I have a very beginners question.

I'm going thru stock sounds in the left browser. How come when I drag a sound into the pattern pallette... It has a completely different pitch than it does when I preview it in the browser?

In the browser...it sounds much harder and darker and when I add it to the pattern...it sounds the complete opposite.
heres a tip: the stock sounds in FL are all ******* garbage and you should never ever use any of them

I haven't messed with FL in years but it sounds like you might have some sort of preset enabled that's changing the original sound.

It's probably the limiter on the main mixer channel. If this is the case, what I do is click File -> New From Template -> Minimal -> Empty and that may possibly fix it. Another thing is if you are using a computer keyboard the comma key is the note C which is the default sound the sample you chose should be on, if I'm making any sense.

@ VICTOR PAGE: Welcome to the FL family, family. :pimp:

Keep an eye on the "Time" knob under the channel settings, make sure its dragged all the way down to 0.

Bingo. That did the trick.

Anyone wanna recommend any sites/tools/resources for beginners? I've been watching YT videos but where I else should I be looking?

I'm finally making it happen and copping some gear to set up something at the crib.

What's the cheapest/best bang for the buck when its comes to a laptop that's only going to be used for this?
Also heard I will probably need to upgrade the sound card?

Some dope stuff here. I always wondered, are any of you dudes able to make a living off just your music?
