Hung out with Jeremy Lin last night

Blonde girl's brother knows Chandler Parsons, and we all ended up out with Lin for a couple hours last night. Went out to a few bars, was with Parsons and Delfino for most of the night. Met up later with Tony Douglas, James Harden, Marcus Morris.

YES, from all accounts, he is as good a guy as he seems. He turned down plenty of girls throwing themselves at him (seriously this was crazy) and he also turned down an invite from some teammates to go to the strip club. Toney Douglas gave me a free cover voucher but I never made it over there.

I post this not because I want to "show off," but because I wanted to give a neutral account of such a controversial sports figure. Personally, I always wonder about Tebow and other known Christian athletes and if they're "keeping an image," but from what I saw last night, Lin is a great guy. Probably gave a wave/handshake/"what's up" every 20 seconds over a two-hour period in one bar. I was amazed at how patient he was. I would have gone nuts. One guy kept saying "I have to tell you something" and got too close, so Lin had to push him away.

Couple tid-bits:

- the jersey-chasers there were possibly the most purely "shallow" human beings I have ever met.

- James Harden ranks Game's albums 1. Documentary 2. Doctor's Advocate 3. Jesus Piece

- Asked Lin if he wanted another beer back in the hotel room, he says "I'm just thinking about those Twizzlers" and points at these Twizzlers on the TV stand. Shrug and give him the bag.

More on the jersey chasers... anyone else have stories of interaction with this terrible breed of female?

The guy we were with simply called a girl that he knew banged NHL players and said "do you want to hang out with some Houston Rockets?" She shows up with three other suburban "Laguna Beach"-type friends who are thirsty from the get-go.

I tried to introduce myself, of course they didn't even look at me or give a decent handshake. Once they got to the players, they squeezed in between them and tried their hardest to laugh at every. single. thing.

Throughout the whole night they complained NON STOP and insisted on taking a taxi if the walk was more than 2 blocks.

I think I had a bro chemistry with Parsons and Lin because they knew I wanted to just have a good time and was easy going. They didn't end up banging any of the girls because they were crying and throwing up at the end of the night.

Everyone just went their separate ways around 3 am; Lin left with Parsons, Delfino, and a bag of Twizzlers.

Here's the thing... not sure if this happens to anyone else in these situations, but I caught myself trying to entertain him and interact with him. Sort of embarrassing when I realized it. My biggest impression from these sorts of things is that these are just normal people... and most of the time, they're not that cool. I'm just glad that Lin is a solid guy.

Damn thats pretty cool. I know if I ever met Tim Duncan I would annoy the hell out of him. I could have met Steph Curry too and hes my second favorite player ever but I missed out on it, if I had known he was going to be there I would have totally wentmean.gif

Met Lin at San Jose Airport once during the offseason (during the lockout). Dude was real chill and humble, chopped it up for a bit. NO ONE knew him, laugh.gif which was slightly surprising cause he just spent the season with the W's.

Cool... nice to know that he seems as genuine as they come.

Two totally different motives though. He respects him because of what he does and is an avid fan of the sport, those girls are just looking for a come up. I get what you're saying but it just isnt the same to me.

Good stuff OP.

I've been a Lin fan since his Harvard days (We got the same chinese last name, same age, both from the bay, both econ majors, both christian).

I was hyped to meet him after a Warriors "We Believe" charity game. After the game (which Lin's team won), I approached him on the floor with my Lin swingman under my Curry swingman. I lifted up the Curry jersey and asked Lin for an autograph and he yelled at me "TAKE THAT OFF MAN!" and walked away angrily.

Still hurts to this day mean.gif

laugh.gif There's a pretty big difference between chatting with Lin a little bit over drinks and the JCs with their sights set on him for his wallet and image. He was being real with me and my friend because we obviously weren't shallow.

And I didn't "call" the girls jersey chasers. They are jersey chasers in their DNA. It's their existence.
