Chip Kelly teaches Michael Vick how to hold a football
Michael Vick is a somewhat controversial figure these days, but most will agree that he has, as a whole, been a pretty darn good football player throughout his 10 seasons in the NFL. After 20,274 passing yards and 5,551 rushing yards, you wouldn't think he had much more to learn. Then he met Chip Kelly:
"The other day, I broke out in the pocket, and the first thing Chip told me was to tuck the football," Vick said. "So I showed him how I was running with it, and he looked at it and he knocked the ball right out of my hands. And he was like, ‘Hold it like this.' And what he told me felt comfortable. I had a tighter grip on the football. That should secure that problem as long as I work on it. Like I said, you're always a work in progress, and even when you think you know it all, sometimes you don't. The people who feel like they know everything, they don't."
That's right, the new Philadelphia Eagles head coach is apparently the first person to teach Vick how to properly hold a football. As of press time, it is unclear how the most fundamental lesson in football went untaught throughout Vick's peewee, high school, college and professional career. Perhaps his coaches were too awestruck by his talent that they forgot their heads.
Whatever the case, Vick will hopefully fix his turnover issues as a result. Vick has 32 fumbles in his last 35 games, 12 of which resulted in turnovers. Last year, he had 10 interceptions and four lost fumbles in 10 game appearances.

I honestly thought we might trade maclin going into the draft.. Or take advantage of the 49ers need after Crabtree went down..
I have no idea what kind of contract we would have offered him with all the stuff he has had come up.. But with chip Kelly coming in, I know there is going be more of a focus on the TEs in the passing game and WRs blocking in the running game (not the strongest aspect of Mac's game)
This isn't the biggest blow, because celek, casey (as a FB/h-back/TE) and ertz are all figured to be heavily involved.. I could see us playing a ton with all 3 on the field.. Harbor has a good chance of making the team
And cooper and Johnson were both able to get good playing time last year.. Soo you have those guys to go along with desean and avant

Not the first time we've had to adjust to being without maclin..
The way chip is going out scheme defenses is by playing 2 TEs sets WITH James casey as the FB/h-back.. Then we have desean (and to a lesser degree Johnson) to keep the safeties honest..
Because depending on what defenses do, we can run and pass out of that formation.. Since all of our TEs are pass catchers and casey is as well.. Celek and casey are good blockers.. Ertz we'll see.. Harbor not so much, but serviceable
We'll be ok with desean, cooper, avant, Johnson and whoever else.. I'm more worried about TE depth, cause what happens if celek, ertz or casey go down (harbor is ok.. But still)
And our RBs are also very important to the above plan.. Especially McCoy, who is another receiving threat out of that formation

In an Andy Reid offense, I'd be worried about the loss of Maclin.
In a Chip Kelly offense, the first week of camp, I honestly don't even care about Maclin. I mean, I care... but I'm not upset about it from a optimism about the season standpoint. Yes, he could have had a great season, but oh well, Chip got plenty more toys in the toy box.
Reid's staff had no creativity and didn't play to their personnel's skill sets. Like dude above me said, the 3 TE set will be in full effect. I'm anxious for the 2009 Celek to re-appear, along with Avant stepping up. People sleep on Avant -- I think his limited roles have been a product of the system he was in. Reid's offensive game plan was a mess every week.
I'm worried about the secondary... those safeties scare me. I actually like that we have blue-collar guys in the secondary, not the flashy names, but man.... I hate Coleman. He's hands down my least favorite Eagle. Guys just need to be on the same page, have some chemistry. Last season it was like they didn't even know each other's names or had ever even practiced together.
