Is this Marcus Smith guy any good?

I wouldn't say panicked, it seems like they just reached about 10 picks for Smith, which I could live with. They probably could have traded back with Minny for around the same deal Seattle got, but were afraid to lose Smith so it's not that bad. After hours of trying to justify it, this pick is growing on me anyways. The crux of my initial disappointment was that I saw a lot of mocks and scouts having him go in the 2nd-3rd round, but we don't know what Chip and Howie, or any other real GM who does this stuff for a living, are thinking. Apparently a lot of them had Smith going in the top of the 2nd which is an okay reach for me. Considering the amount of times the players were passed, a lot of teams seem to think poorly of the guys we would have drafted anyway (Lee, Nix, etc.)
 
Hopefully today, day 2, will be better. We have 3 upcoming picks. I expect us to fill some spots in WR and the secondary.

The Smith pick will grow on me. He has a lot of potential, he's a great pass rusher from the highlights I saw. He wraps up the player, which is good. Raw talent, and I think he will be good for this team. I think this pick was to fill in spots for our line men. Trent is getting older, and they needed someone to fill in that spot as a situational player.

I think the one thing I learned from this past year with Chip is to expect the unexpected. Dude really just doesn't give a **** what anyone thinks :lol: :pimp:
I expected Geno over Ertz. Didn't expect Matt Barkley, let alone trading up for him. Didn't expect the Sproles trade. No way did I expect Marcus Smith.

I really want Latimer or Robinson today. We take one of them and I will feel much better about the selection of Smith. It may have been a reach, but I think we realized he was the last high value Rusher left on the board. Remember, the Eagles draft board is radically different from the ours and the experts such as Mayock/Kiper etc. Some of the guys who we think are the top prospects available simply don't intrigue Chip and Howie because they won't fit our system. Smith will be a good fit, reach or not.

Not gonna lie though, did feel like a pick from the Andy Reid era :lol: :frown:
 
really want Allen Robinson as well, I hope he's not gone by the time we pick but I fear a big run on WR's right at the start of round 2 :x

Nah, dude has size and speed.. Undersized speedball would have been Andy's pick.. So either dee ford or trade up for Donald.. Both did well at senior bowl too

Or we would have went with lee and maybe even manziel




I would have been extremely happy if this pick was 10 picks later.. So I can live with it and love getting the extra pick.. Plus he converted to defense at lousiville and he has good size and speed.. And had production his senior year
 
We get latimer Robinson and even lee and I'm ecstatic about this draft.. And then we can go defense twice in round 3


Hopefully we can get christian jones, Keith urban or Jordan Tripp in the 3 rd

I can't tell you how ecstatic I would be if we were able to snag Robinson; I watched his entire college career and he is a beast

he catches passes that have no business being caught
 
I want latimer or Robinson.. Would be happy with lee, although I'm weary of him




But both latimer and Robinson can be beast.. And exactly what chip is looking for, physical guys who can be vital cogs in the running and passing game
