Nah, if you invest hundreds of millions of dollars around that area, which is the type of investment it would be, the goons will most certainly not be coming.
What would come is change, I'm not sure how that change would affect that part of East Oakland but I'm very interested in gaining a better idea.

Kind of agree. Put some pride in the area and its inhabitants will reciprocate.

We're going to be one of the teams mentioned for the place, that's for sure. If we can't get what we need/want in the East Bay, I think the LA move will be made. Pasadena has already approved the use of the Rose Bowl for any NFL team that needs to be housed there while Farmers Field is built.

How does the city of Oakland feel about maybe the Raiders leaving?
why do they keep toying back and forth with Oakland & LA? I feel a franchise should stick in one city and if it leaves it has to get a new logo and colors

The Raiders represent the Raider Nation who cares where they play as long as they perform. Move them to Boise Idaho and have Uncle Rico QB for us if it means our Fourth Lombardi.

I feel the same way. I don't need the Raiders in Oakland or the East Bay to stay a fan. Wherever they are, I'm with them 100%

Lets be honest...what investment group will try to build new apartments around that area....I can see a shopping plaza and movie theater tho, like emeryville....but first thing first ...gotta clean up that mess in city hall, she don't know what she's doing.

Honestly, they can't let it happen. They already lost the Warriors. The A's are trying to get things together so they can go.
Part of me feels that the Rams or the Jaguars are going to be the ones to go to LA.

Yup. But hey, if they can make the mission and the tenderloin "hip and trendy" there is no reason they can't do the same for that area.

I feel like this is true, too. Just as Oakland bent over backwards for the Raiders to return in 1995 by raping the Coliseum, they'll again do whatever it takes to convince the organization to stay. And I'm sure the taxpayers will again be the ones who are forced to pay some outrageous sum for it happen.

I kinda hear where you coming from but if you think no one will invest in that area because of its location within East Oakland you're wrong.

Pacman is a no-go, I feel. Reggie has stressed his concern about having high character guys before and those in the know with him have also made clear that he's not interested in problem characters.
Kenny Phillips would have fit the free-agent model that Reggie used last offseason, which was getting players with previous injuries and hoping they panned out. It didn't quite work this year, and with more money available to him I think he'll try to eschew away from that strategy.

Haha. In our season thread I brought up how nice it would be for the new stadium to be Raider-themed. Colored black, with some pirate stuff around. Better than Tampa Bay's

I wonder if temperature would be an issue with a black stadium. Maybe silver seats inside, black outside? I have no damn clue

I think the Chargers took themselves out of the running for LA as well. That leaves the Raiders and... the Vikings? Did they figure out their stadium situation officially?

Rams also need a new stadium. After building the new Cards' stadium I wonder how open St. Louis is to fund another stadium. That's the thing with franchises who are not doing well: their leverage is less than it would be if they were competitive and drawing in more fans.
This is the reason that the Raiders are closing off Mt. Davis, I think. Instead of claiming sell outs by buying out a ton of tickets themselves, the organization is closing off a huge section of the stadium and lowering the price for the third deck. That almost assures sell outs in the smallest venue in the NFL by a large margin. There's more leverage when negotiating with the City of Oakland when you can demonstrate that you've sold out your stadium for 2+ seasons and you're fed up with a terrible environment.
