Please LOCk

If we were able to move down and pick up a late 1st or early 2nd, I'd like to pickup Holmes from SC.We could then move lil Wiz back to LG, where he played well last year.

Rolando  :smh:  Dude's good as gone I think.

I'm hearing a lot of things about this Ansah kid from BYU. My friend thinks we should trade down for him and was telling me he's the "next JPP" and all this but I haven't watched BYU play once this year  Anyone know anything?

That would be awesome to have on the team. Just someone what would make Manning, Rivers, whatever carousel qb in KC look down at the pass rush and think about it.

I hope we trade down with someone desperate for a QB.

JAX PROB wont take one, MAYBE KC....

I would love to get maybe a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and a 2nd next year or something from someone desperate. We'll be able to get a slew of good players if we draft right.

Clarification on the arrest of Rolando McClain

When the officer handed him the citation, he scrawled “"(Expletive) y'all” across the ticket. He was then arrested for providing a false name to police.

Police spokesman Lt. John Crouch stated that no arrest would have been made had McClain simply signed his legal name.

Before the arrest, McClain was given a second chance when the officer asked him to sign the ticket again. In response, McClain reportedly said, "That is my name."

...

Further aggravating the situation, McClain refused to talk to the supervising officer, preferring to speak only to the office that had pulled him over. He refused to provide his license and insurance information, telling the officer, “you know who I am.”

Raiders Interview Mike Martz for OC
http://www.ibabuzz.com/oaklandraiders/2013/01/12/raiders-interview-martz-for-off-coord-vacancy

The Raiders interviewed Mike Martz for their offensive coordinator vacancy in an attempt to find an upgrade over the fired Greg Knapp, a person familiar with the situation said.
They also spoke with Juan Castillo about the prospect of taking over for fired offensive line coach Frank Pollack.
To this point, the Raiders have not released any information about their search for replacements for Knapp, Pollack, special teams coordinator Steve Hoffman and linebackers coach Johnny Holland.
All four were fired the day after the Raiders completed a 4-12 season, their 10th straight season without a winning record.
Martz last worked in the league as the Chicago Bears offensive coordinator in 2011. He was fired after a two-year stint. He was the 49ers offensive coordinator in 2008 and served in the same capacity for the Detroit Lions in 2006-07.
Raiders coach Dennis Allen said in his year-end news conference that he isn’t in a hurry to find an offensive coordinator.
“I don’t have a time frame for getting somebody in,” Allen said. “I want to make sure we get the right guy, and however long that takes for us to get the right guy, that’s how long that that takes.”
Allen also said he isn’t averse to working with an offensive coordinator that has experience as a head coach. Martz coached the Rams from 2000-05 and solidified his reputation as a guy that can get the most out of his offense.
“I’ll be comfortable with a guy I feel like gives us the best chance to be successful in all areas,” Allen said.
Under Knapp this season, the Raiders struggled establishing a consistent running attack and scoring points.
Pollack and Knapp came under fire for their implementation of the zone-blocking scheme upon their arrival last offseason.
Castillo was the Eagles offensive line coach for 13 seasons before then-coach Andy Reid promoted him to defensive coordinator before the 2011 season. The move backfired and resulted in the Eagles firing Castillo in October of this season.

I like the move of bring Juan Castillo as O-Line coach. But not like Martz as OC.

But not like Martz as OC.

Why not? I'm curious because I really like the idea of getting somebody proven who's had success at OC. I was in favor of Turner, but Mike Martz is a solid option. I'd be happy if he joins the team.

Report: Raiders to interview former Super Bowl offensive coordinator Trestman

Trestman has been a hot name of late. He is someone I have had in the back of my mind for a while now but I had not considered him a candidate for the Raiders just yet simply because the interest he has been rumored to have is for head coach, not offensive coordinator. He is fresh off a reported interview with the Chicago Bears for their head coaching vacancy as well as for the Cleveland Browns.

Fox broadcaster and former NFL head coach, Jimmy Johnson, had people buzzing when he Tweeted that the Bears had offered Trestman the job. Trestman denied any such job offer. This interview with the Raiders suggests Trestman was telling the truth. But the overall interest in his services is very real.

Trestman was the quarterbacks coach for the Raiders during the Gruden years and he was offensive coordinator for the Raiders when they made their run to the Super Bowl in 2002. Under his tutelage, the Raiders were the best offense in the NFL and Rich Gannon was named NFL MVP.

He was let go along with the rest of the Bill Callahan staff following the 4-12 season that followed the Super Bowl season and went to the Dolphins as their QB coach for one season before leaving to the college ranks as the offensive coordinator for North Carolina State.

He re-emerged and solidified his candidacy back in 2010 by taking the Montreal Alloutettes of the CFL to two straight Grey Cup Championships. The first championship coming after he was the CFL Coach of the Year in his first season as head coach of the team.

At that time, the Raiders flirted with the idea of bringing Trestman back to the team as the offensive coordinator. They even reached out to him as well as a couple other candidates to gauge their interest in coming to the team under then coach Tom Cable. But the Raiders ended up going with Hue Jackson instead.

Trestman's resume is very solid and with his interview, he immediately jumps to the forefront as the favorite to land the job. He is a proven offensive guru who left the NFL two seasons removed from coordinating a juggernaut offense to the Super Bowl. It may be time for his second chance to lead the Raiders offense again.

Not sure how I feel about this. I generally don't like retreads, but if he's the best option out there that the team knows of, then better to get him now and develop the offense according to his strengths.

Raiders interviewing Ray Anderson to become team president

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8840203/ray-anderson-oakland-raiders-discuss-job-sources

He'll be responsible for the day to day operation of the team, working with Amy Trask on the business side and serving as Reggie's direct boss.

EDIT: Bill Williamson wrote that Anderson would be strictly concerned with the business side of the organization. I imagine a huge reason he'd come to us would be to help facilitate the process for a new stadium. I'm sure Amy will be happy having an NFL insider to work with.

This also means that Reggie will still be answering to Mark directly. I suppose that's fine, though Mark has demonstrated some ignorance about how a football team is developed and the time needed to make it a successful rebuild.

Isn't Al Saunders still an Advisor or something? Why not just make him the OC.

He's in his mid 60's now, doubt the man is interested in the grind that being a coordinator requires after having a year to lay back. If anything, I expect him to be "parting ways" with the team if someone who has a scheme that's ready to go comes in and doesn't need an "advisor" to oversee the offense.

HELL NO to Martz. Dude's been done and he's stubborn as ****. I'd gladly welcome back Trestman and would love to have Anderson on board. Trestman has been silently doing work in the CFL, yes I know it's the CFL, but dude is pretty smart and I think he can do some good things with what we got.

I just hope we don't wind up with someones trash. Martz, Morttenwhig, etc...

If anything hire a young gun with the power philosophy.

You guys think we trade our pick if Geno is still around with our pick to the Eagles.?

Kromer went to the Bears. I would like for us to go after Mike Mularkey or Pete Carmichael Jr.

Scratch Norv Turner as well.

On another note. It looks like McKenzie says they are keeping DMC and running him N-S next season compared to the lateral find a hole running he did this year.
