** Soccer/Futbol/Football Feet, Kits and Gear - 2013 **

Kaizer Chiefs had the GOAT home kit for the past few years.  A little disappointed to see what they rolled out this year.

Our away kit is so damn ugly. I wish they would cut it out with the blue already. I have been wanting a black away for quite sometime now and nothing. Every year our home is nice and the away is trash or vice versa. How hard is it to mess up a Red shirt for Christ's sakes?!

On another note, I am really loving my Hypervenom Phantoms. Can see my self getting a couple more pairs to stock in case they cancel the silo or mess with the sizing next gen.

Picked these up at Ross today for $20, I believe retail was $220. First good thing I've ever found at Ross.

Nice come up :pimp:

I just recently got some Seaweed Vapor 8s and these things are narrow as hell :x

I don't have wide feet but these things are tight on me, I might have to wear thin socks and hopefully they stretch out overtime.

Can anyone tell me the difference in fit with the normal Nike jerseys and authentics and if its worth the price. I'm considering getting the centennial jersey while WSS is having their 20% off sale.

It's been explained numerous times on here that the authentics fit more snug than a replica.

Personally, I would never buy an authentic. It's a waste of money in my opinion. I would never play in my kits either, I just play in plain dri fit baselayers.

louislagerfeld is right about the fit.  Order one size larger than the replica size that fits you well to get a similar fit chest and shoulderwise.  I wear a size S replica, but a size M authentics.  The authentics were designed to fit world class footballers capable of completing 90 minutes of play at the highest level, so don't expect a beer belly to fit into an authentic jersey even if you've sized up 1.  The same sizing advice applies to Adidas Formotion and Techfit jerseys compared to the replica Climacool ones.

The notable differences on the Nike authentics are taped shoulder seams, ventilation holes on the sides, and a thinner fully ventilated meshlike fabric on the back.  Some authentics have a rubberized swoosh and team badge instead of embroidered ones.

The authentic jerseys are very much designed for the player's comfort while playing in a single game, and are pretty much used once and done with, never to be used again.  Convversely, the replicas are meant for us everyday folk to wear over and over and over again each and every matchday, going through countless laundry cycles in between.  I personally try to never ever wash my authentic jerseys for this reason.  I always wear a hypercool or hyperwarm baselayer underneath (depending on the season) to capture any perspiration and then launder that afterwards.  I suppose I'd have to wash it if beer or food were spilled on it, but that hasn't happened to me yet.  I would never play or work out in any of my authentic kits either, because I don't want to ruin them.  I can understand louislagerfeld's statement that it is a waste of money, although I do not agree with it.  It seems odd to pay more money for something that is more delicate, but once I started buying authentics, I stopped buying replicas.  It's a matter of collectibilty.  Wouldn't you want the exact same jersey that the players wore when they won the league, cup, etc?  I treasure my authentic kits the same way I'd treasure a PE sneaker.  I own a number of authentic jerseys, many still completely deadstock.  I do not think any of them are a waste of money.  In fact, I probably value them more than what I paid for them, which is probably why all of us are on NT in the first place.

It's a huge misconception that futbol shirts are only worn once by clubs. They're worn multiple times until they can't be repaired. Some of the lesser clubs in the Prem, La Liga, Serie A, etc don't even allow their players to swap shirts with opposing players at the end of matches because of cost.

I know Barca has a tailor on their equipment staff that makes repairs to all their kits & training apparel. They don't just throw away or give away a shirt/kit to charity once something tears.

Here's a great feature on Jimmy Martin, Everton's long time equipment manager/kit man. I found it interesting that he doesn't launder the kits when their away because of the laundry powder available on the road could change the colors on the kits... Always love seeing behind the scenes stuff especially on the kits..

I tried to find the segment from Being Liverpool that had the equipment manager talk about this daily routine but couldn't find it on youtube. I did find these pieces though from MLS equipment managers.

When is Man City's Black/Gold kit releasing? Was hoping that they would be available so that I could use the WSS 20 off on it.

:wow: Mind blown! This is news to me. I can understand that the idea behind costs but you would think that Nike would be sending these clubs tons and tons of jerseys!

The authentics you buy from retail outlets usually aren't quite the same as the actual player issue shirts you see on TV. I have a player issue USA jersey and it feels like a tissue compared to my USA authentic, the badge and swoosh are also screen printed and not embroidered like with the authentic. I've washed my authentic shirts a number of times.

The "polo style" with the collar are a little better than the crew neck with the buttons, but overall im just not a fan of the buttons being on there, collars i can tolerate.
