** Soccer/Futbol/Football Feet, Kits and Gear - 2013 **

I gotta agree with rip, my Geo Merlin ball that I snagged \ ) as a youngster over a decade ago. Graphics faded a long time ago but it still flies true.

The Catalyst is real similar in terms of feel if you want something similar rip.

hahaha this is the greatest post ever - seeing that thing brings back so many memories of travel soccer! i have to try to find mine.

what are those Nike socks he's wearing? :nerd:

Also, does somebody here have an official match ball? What's the difference between the official ball and the replica that costs ~$24.99?

the official match ball is light years ahead of anything in the $25 range, although there are some solid $60-80 training balls that could easily be used as matchballs in most leagues.

i've loved pretty much every nike matchball (the old school geo merlin will always be the best ever because of how sticky/supple it was). i've thought that adidas balls were all gimmicks (especially the jabulani), but the tango is a great ball.

the interesting thing with balls is that you'll never get a consensus as to which is best - as a midfielder, i want something that's softer and has grip.

If you don't mind getting last season's match balls, you should be able to find them for up to 50% off.  The Adidas store in downtown Toronto always has a whole pile of last season's Champions League matchballs for $75 whenever I pop in during sale time.  I can't recall ever seeing a Nike EPL, La Liga, or Serie A official match ball in store though...

Spot on. Honestly it takes a soccer player to be able to feel and exploit the differences but premium balls are a lot easier to manipulate.

I have four Nike Tracers, two Seitiro's, and a Maxim (I'm pretty sure these are all the exact same ball just different graphics) and several Nike Catalyst. The Catalyst is a great ball in that $60-80 price range, just as responsive as the official match balls but they're A LOT lighter which I sometimes prefer. I have an Adidas CL match ball, similar to it's Nike counterparts and a good ball but I find it doesn't fly quite as true.

I've never paid retail for a match ball, every winter I hit eBay and stock up on one or two. Last year there was a seller who had Tracers for $50 shipped, got all my Catalyst from the same seller the year before for $35 shipped.

If you've been playing your whole life and have never hit a premium match ball, find one, inflate it properly (God I hate under inflated balls), and go shoot on goal for a little bit. It's gonna feel like you're on roids.
what a coincidence, I got invited to play some footy early this morning way out in the suburbs. And what do you know, I played with an official Nike Maxim. you were not lying when you said I'm gonna feel like I'm on roids :wow:

Although the field was uneven and the grass was high, I got a pretty good feel on the ball. It's so light and soft to the touch, no wonder these guys don't get concussions from headers. It felt like I was kicking a volleyball

Aesthetically, the Geo Merlin and the white/black Adidas Finale are probably the most beautiful balls ever made IMO.

Speaking of which, anyone remember these? Oh, the memories.

I think i am going to bite the bullet and grab some nike AG vapor 9s.

Just found out that our home field may be on artificial grass this year. We had our first game on it.....and i could feel the studs when i took my vapor 8s off and was walking around my house. It was like i still had the cleats on lol. Felt terrible.

I also picked up a pair of Nike elite 2 layer socks at the nike outlet for 15 bucks. I wore them for our first game and just cut our team socks and slid the top over like i was wearing trusox. I usually double up my socks when i play but it causes blisters on my big toe from the sliding. So trying out these dual layer socks as an alternative. They make my shoes fit just as snug so that is a plus but still had some sliding. Also could be getting blisters from wearing FG vapor plate on AG. It is brutal

Found a seller on ebay who was selling several Nike Seitiro for $80 shipped. That's still pretty steep, but **** it, I went ahead and ordered one.

The season's coming up and I'm about to pull the trigger on these:

Reading/watching reviews I've heard two conflicting reports...

...one says they're true to size, another says get 'em a half size small.

Can anybody shed some insight?

So you don't wear TruSox?  I'd try em if you can pick em up for a decent price.

I'm waiting for some pricedrops on old CWs of all these ACC shoes, maybe even an AG plate in the Trequartista is decent, anyone try the AG plate on the Mercurial take-down yet?

That was my only issue TruSox were $40 a pair....i was like i will grab some nike elites see how they work out. I wish they would hurry up and drop the price on the AG models in general....i wonder how they are doing sales wise. There is a pair of blue MV9s on soccer.com in AG that has 2 sizes left and one is my size but still $178 on sale.

Just got my schedule for the fall and it looks like half our games are on turf so might just do it.

has anyone been to an outlet or marshall's/ross lately? i ask because within the past couple of weeks there's been a TON of new elite series boots listed on ebay. i have email alerts set up, and it went from about one pair of maestri ii's in my size being listed each month to about one every day recently, all different listings. i'm really confused how this is happening - maybe they're showing up in outlets?

Man idk but I did get salty one time last year I saw a documentary about something recently happening in Africa and there was an african kid in the Arsenal jersey centennial version with the new crest with the leaves and in all white which was

If you find out though let me know id def run there for some maestri elites or legend elites. Still need AG boots...drop the price on your top tier ag's nike damn u

I have a quick question about shorts.

Do all of them come with liners and do they all fit snug?

I ordered some Nike ManU and Barca shorts a while ago in size S and they're really tight in the waist. My dumb self should've returned them and got an M but I have already played in them. :smh:

Also where can I cop this warmup jacket?

Those midlayers used to be much easier to get but maybe they weren't selling well because now they are almost impossible to find. I'm not sure the national team versions were ever on sale to the public.

that's probably an accurate answer. you used to be able to get replica warmup pants for any team you wanted, and now it's difficult to find them even from a club like barcelona. i think too much technical replica warmup apparel ended up on the clearance racks so nike, adidas, etc. just decided to stop producing them en masse.

as i suspected, the elites on ebay are being found at ross - i wish we had them in the northeast. i picked these up on ebay and contacted the seller. he got them at ross in colorado and said that there were more elites there. i'll check out tj maxx and marshall's around here just incase they're getting them.

i'm so hyped to have these. the clash colorway was never released to the public with the carbon fiber soleplate; i'm not sure how these ended up at ross, but i'm glad things worked out the way they did! perfect timing too - my first practice is tomorrow. they're my fourth pair of maestri elites for those keeping score lol

the sublimated "R 0, G 100, B 255" on the upper is supposed to be there, right? i had never seen pictures detailing that before.

Yep it's supposed to be there  it's the same on the Vapors, T90s and Tiempos. You're all good.

Great find btw.

aahh ok, makes sense

that new hi-vis collection is terrible. the Tiempo and CTR360 look the best in my opinion

yup, those letters and numbers are the color combination used to get that shade of blue on the upper of the CTR360

damb rip great pick up

I like the ctr360s in the high vis pack....i wouldn't pay retail for them...but they are the best of the bunch i think. Still on the look out for some cheap AG's.
