What if I told you everything you believe about NikeTalk isn't real. What if the origin of this website wasn't what you were told. What if the creators have been using you as pawns for years? What if the people behind certain screen names were not who they said they were.
What if I told you that NikeTalk was created by Nike itself. Phil Knight and those in a think tank at Nike were trying to create a way to receive input and ideas from the consumers. They selected certain individuals aka the creators to play the part of "fans" and "collectors" while having the growing population of NikeTalk to believe there was no connection to Nike. Pretty much Nike is the Greek and NikeTalk is the coffee shop. Nike is Gustavo Fring and NikeTalk is Los Pollos Hermanos.
Many of the screen names that started this site were shared by the creators and this was done to make the perception of a growing community. This is a tactic similar to the phrase "faking it to you make". And it worked the website's community continued to grow. They even used tactics to create brand loyalty and created "enemies" such as a urban version of NT and had public disputes with real life allies in the sneaker community. It was all a game and the users believed it as the gospel.
Over ten years later here we are. The community has grown and so has the technology. Nike has succeeded in not only having the worlds greatest tool in access to its consumers but they have a control on what you like now. What other way to stay on top than to actually create the trends? Open your eyes.
Many of the original screen names have disappeared or rarely post anymore. Why? Because the creators don't need to anymore. This thing is on auto-pilot at this point. If these people behind these screen names were who they said they were wouldn't we know?
Do you really think its the same person logging in everytime for those original names? You would never know. They are everywhere and anywhere.
They have continued to gather our information similar to google and facebook. You guys complain about prices, colors, quality, safety at releases, resellers etc. But still buy the products!!!!!!!!! They are laughing at you and continue to control you because you are too focused on copping new kicks.
