Venus battled. I thought she was done after the 2nd set, but she surprised me with her mental toughness.

Venus vs Madison is interesting. Venus is darn near twice Madison's age. Hopefully she takes her to school.

Vee vs Madison is an extremely interesting match-up now that Davenport is Madison's coach. I think it will come down to Vee keeping the errors in check. If she does, her experience will be the difference. If she has a 40+ unforced error kind of match, she won't win.

She stays salivating when a player beats Serena. She had so much hope for Maria but Serena is an all-time great for a reason. To be honest I don't dislike Maria, I dislike how she's hyped as a top 5 player of all time when the numbers don't lie.

The match went according to plan. Genie isn't elite and her game is hard to watch. Her game is part of the problem with most of the women on tour. She doesn't change tempo, use angles, construct points etc. When Maria has more of a plan B than you, you know your game is limited.
