I don't like on-court coaching because I like to see players figure things out on their own. I know players cheat this rule all of the time, using creative signals,but tennis is a mental game.

Yep, completely agree with you there.  All the players have 'teams', but it's an individual sport.  When you're out there it's 1 vs 1.  Players on both tours have been figuring things out for themselves for decades.

Anyone remember the time James Blake and Pam Shriver went at it during one of his matches because she was commentating too loudly?

I remember that all too well!  That was just downright rude and unprofessional.  The sense of entitlement/arrogance as a "journo" was appalling.  She was clearly speaking at a level which affected him, but it's his fault that he heard her.

I was actually trying to figure out if Berdych had a shoe-only contract with Nike last night... Do players like him and Isner generally keep shoe deals with sponsors even when they don't wear their clothing anymore? I know Nole keeps a shoe contract with adidas... I just think it's interesting that some companies would bother keeping deals like this when the players are wearing different threads. Uniqlo and H&M could be special cases since they don't make tennis shoes, but Lacoste certainly does.

Yeah, I think they're similar to what Nole & Kei has... Adidas still includes Nole in some of their ads (like on social media).  For Nike, off the top of my head, it's guys like Isner, Feli, Tomas, etc.  Tomas' look like iD's... not sure about the specifics, but obvs he can supply his own shoes if he wanted to.
