2014 Mercedes Benz CLA (New Entry-Level Benz) - AMG Shooting Brake not US-bound

I've never understood the point of small sedans. It's not like folks will be comfortable in the back. Might as well get the coupe

There has always been a market for small sedans or subcompact. First they tend to be cheaper/cheapest in the car brands line-up as evidence by the likes of 1-series, A3, etc... This isn't just for luxury brand either. Toyota had the Tercel and then the Yaris, Nissans Versa, Hindas Fit, etc...

In this case, this is a subcompact (actually the CLA is probably more of a compact, comparable the size of a Corolla/Civic? Most are saying it is just slightly smaller than the current C-Class, which is much roomier than the IS) sports sedan. Also, some people just prefers sedans over coupes the same way you prefer coupes over sedans.

This car is going to sell BIG.  I can't wait to see what competitors are going to do.  For this price they givin for the CLA , prices of the older models of the benz will def drop.  They need to make a twin turbo v6 for the CLS tho, dudes like me don't need a gas guzzler

my next car in 2 years and will be posted on the PYC thread :pimp: beleee dat plehboi

I'm awaiting to see more details and the options that can be added. I know the 5.8in. screen comes standard but the same sized screen with touch screen features will be an option.

I'm not a fan of front wheel drive, I would opt for the 4Matic, I read that AMG developed it themselves.

For my fellow gear heads, its pretty interesting how the 4Matic on the CLA is gonna work: http://socialpublish.mercedes-benz....ve-for-the-cla-all-wheel-drive-for-all-16042/

I'm really looking forward to this car now, definite prospect for the next year or so, I'm just awaiting for the new redesigned Genesis and Sonata to be unveiled later this year.

Flame suit on for liking Hyundai :nerd: , my Moms got herself a 2013 Sonata. Nice, spacious and affordable, wish it was RWD but hey, its nice to drive regardless.

Im just interested in general how this car will sell and effect the car industry across the board, benz other models included.

Wow... Right on time I guess

I went to the Benz stealer ship around my way and inquired...

Sales rep said he can't speak on specifics but he'd guess 3 k down sub 400 for starters n prolly 3500 n about mid 400s reasonably equipped

My wallet is rdy... White/coil overs/black shoes

Maybe even matte black top wrap ughhhhhck. On Instagram straight flexinnn

dont u have a g37?

That's a downgrade

That's a downgrade

I'm not about this life anymore... I'm down to 2 or 3 near death experiences a week

Having a kid really changes ALOT of things. I still really enjoy driving my car to and from work but I lost all ambition to dump money into it. Gave up that Tokyo drift lifestyle too haha rarely have the car sideways anymore or really test it limits.

Soon I'll be in a position where having a dd and a "weekend car" would b much more feasible...

The cla and an older stang gt or g35 will prob be the move by next summer

Not point in making a thread for this yet because no pics have surfaced but since this is the baby CLS, I figure I can sneek in this discussion the baby SLS, the SLC (911 fighter/killer?).

Mercedes insiders have revealed to Britain’s Car that the SLC will be available with no less than three engine options. At launch, the standard motor will be a version of AMG’s upcoming twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with 485 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. A range-topping model, the SLC S, will feature a hotter version of the 4.0-liter that produces 585 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of twist.

Roughly a year after the SLC hits the market, Mercedes will introduce an entry-level model, powered by a 333-horsepower V6, that will compete with the standard Porsche 911 Carrera. All variants will send power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The SLC will ride on a shortened version of the SLS AMG’s platform, although the latter car’s signature gullwing doors will be replaced with conventional units to improve structural rigidity and reduce mass – overall, the SLC is expected to weigh in at around 3400 pounds.

Though prices from foreign markets rarely translate directly to MSRPs in U.S. showrooms, it’s worth noting that the Mercedes insiders have revealed tentative SLS pricing information for the British market. The V6 model will reportedly start at 70,000 pounds ($110,474), the standard V-8 will command 80,000 pounds ($126,256) and the high-performance V8 will run 115,000 pounds ($181,493).

The SLC is slated to launch in V8 form in 2015, while the V6 model will follow in 2016.

Even if it isn't a gullwing, this car will be beautiful like the SLS. I just wish it starts at $80k like the 911. A V6 with 350hp at around $85k-$90k will sell like crazy.

would have been sick with the gull wings

That is one of the coolest things in the SLS, they probably fear that it'll take sales away from their $200k car, probably cost a lot to put one in a car too and could bump that price an extra $10-$15k. Plus I have read a few complaints about it and that the traditional door on the roadster was just much better and easier. I personally would prefer the gullwing but damn make the SLC as nice as SLS and price it right and people would flock to it instead of the R8.

I think da key is seeing it in person, if its too small only girls gonna rock wit it

i agree

NY auto show..........................everybody gonna be hovered over this, just sharin opinions with total strangers.

one thing i love about auto shows.
