2014 Mercedes Benz CLA (New Entry-Level Benz) - AMG Shooting Brake not US-bound

You guys dont see how small the car is?. Its smaller than the C. Looks that way anyway

This thing is

. They introduced the new model to obviously compete with the BMW 1 series and VW. They're gonna be holding their breath now.

Benz does it again

its so weak though......i guess this is what this generation is about..all show no go.

Let's not open that can of worms please.
em i lying though?

Never said you were but you know that this will end up like the Evoque thread.

i rest my case....cafe laws suck.

cant' wait till 2017 comes so that whole thing gets thrown out.

Will it though? I just don't know, I mean I am not really for it as long as they do offer alternatives with NA engines that can snap your head back but I just don't see it going away.

Let's be honest, at the end of the day if we can have a roaring V8 with 500 horses and still do 40mpg in the highway for less than $30k, we'd all be buying that and I think you would be lying if you said you'd pass on a car like that. But that just isn't possible and car enthusiast who still loves to shift their own gears and feel the road through steering are, sadly, disappearing. I can't knock electronics and the advancement of tech though because it has pushed the limits of cars these days and w/o them we can't really have monsters like the GTR and ZR1 who are still amazing cars for their price (even if very could really afford to own one).

At the end of the day, just be happy that there are options for everyone. A slow but luxurious $35k Benz doesn't suit you? A $31k Mustang with a 5.0L V8 is probably just a couple of blocks away from the Benz dealership and you can go for one of those instead. You want something you can push and whip around to it's limit on the streets? The FRS/BRZ is likely across the street waiting for you to snatch it up. There are plenty of option for everyone to suit your needs and wants really.

It isn't even going to come close to an S6. S6 starts at $73k while this will be below $35k. S6 also has a turbocharged V8 with 420hp while this one has 208hp with a 4banger,

thanks RFX! sorry but i meant the audi S5 2-door. i for sure want a 2-door car because i like the coupe look. i also just saw that BMW in your other post which is nice too! either way, i have about a year to save up and compare.

I think the proportions are terrible. I was excited about this car, but the wheels are tiny, the wheelbase is very short compared to the overall length, making it look weird, the boot is huge...disappointment.

Thats what im saying. This car looks tiny. Look at the 2 ppl in the front seats and how close they are to each other. The rear narrows to a whole nother level, I cant see more than one person squeezing in the back seats

Considering this car is suppose to be the new entry-level car for MB and is suppose to compete with the 1-series then it is understandable that it is smaller. Though they are also releasing the A-Class and B-Class in the US too iirc so I really have no idea what is going on and what segment/criteria this car really falls under.

No problem.

As for the S5, it is still much, much better than the CLA. Supercharged V6 with 333hp at $52k starting isn't a fair comparison.
