Rear looks a bit weird but overall it looks like MB has done a nice job on this whip. My only beef is the price tag and no AWD.

This is the 3rd time im saying it, but the car looks TOO scrunched up. If they made it a little longer, and tweaked the proportions a little bit more, then I think it would look better.

400hp or close to it is possible. I mean the C63 is already at 450hp and that is likely to increase in the next gen so the CLA hitting 385hp-390hp or more isn't too far fetch.

Problem with that is it'll cross through other platforms and will be out of the market the 1-series sits in. I think the CLA looks tons better than the 1-series though and actually looks more proportionate in comparison.

Yep, thats the exact problem.
The 1 series is the epitome of toy looking cars. This CLA is well...imagine if they just lengthened it a bit. It would be killer, even if they just extended the back end a few inches.

it'll go away because subscribing what people SHOULD drive instead WANT to drive has been a failure thus far.
if they can't give these cars away da 2017 loophole to do away with it will come to fruition, especially since will have MASSIVE drilling and that pipeline will be built by then.

I don't know if you can say it's a failure, Prius is still selling like crazy and almost all carmakers are still competing for the "highest mpg" throughout the line-up crown, I just do not see it going away anytime soon. It also resulted sale gains through most carmakers and best sales year in about 5 years iirc (just read this like 2 weeks ago).
Even supercars are adapting to hybrid electric engines to achieve high hp while retaining decent mpg. And everyone is still hung up on making electric cars or electric hybrids,

exactly, 200hp aint nothing, ill be happy when they reveal a AMG even though it will be more than double the price.

Not everyone cares about speed though.
Car is probably aimed at folks who were about to buy a fully loaded Accord or had a good deal on a Maxima but stumbled upon this "bargain" Mercedes. Nothing wrong with that.

At least they didn't go down to ILXs level of 150hp. 200hp is decent, a few years back that is where this segment been driving around in and as a new entry level, it's about right, I just wish it was a V6 instead of a 4banger.
I mean even BMW is releasing a 320i in the US soon, same turbo charged I4 fromt he 328i but tuned town to produce 180 hp but still starts at $33,500.

CLA 45 AMG should be introduced soon, it'll have about 350 bhp, which is pretty decent.

Looks good, especially for what it is--entry level, small car. However, the rear seat seems like it's going to be a glove compartment with exterior doors. The picture with the man sitting in the front seat makes it look like the cabin is very compact.

Sounds like a terrible comparison, unless you're talking about the AMG. S6 will be bigger. More powerful. Bigger engine, faster, probably better interior etc.
The CLA45AMG might be interesting though.

Obviously people are bout that life. Not everyone wants a huge sedan or can afford it. This is going to be a hit man. Take some of that market share away from Bimmer and VW. I work for a Benz dealer dude I'm staring at a SL63 as I type this. Benz > ____.
