The Official help a NTer land a new job and / or help a NTer advance their career thread VOL. PUT ME

Anybody work on Crestrons or other audio visual/IT components?

Anybody tryna get into IT, I can link you to some contractor opportunities with the company I work for. I am in Fort Sill, OK currently but you can just go to the site and see all their openings all over the country, plus usajobs.com You can start at about a GS9, contractors make a bit more, and move up to an 11 or 13 decently fast and just getting ni the system even if it's somewhere you don't want to be, will allow you to move around.

Get your Windows 7 and Sec+ certs though. Use the tests from www.examcollection.com and save on reading a whole book

Image comics.. If ur looking for a book we do holla atcha boy

Buncha grow spots... If you want some indoor purple holla atcha boy

What ever you do... stay away from primerica and amway. Don't believe any of that bumbo jumbo they spew

Currently doing the security gig, the pay is alright but I want more. I also work retail.

Security kinda left a bad taste in my mouth cuz they transferred me to a different site because I had my laptop at work. Which there wasn't a policy about :smh:

I'm at a different site closer to home, but I'm trying to get a job at the airport.

I'm in Atlanta btw so if anybody knows of anything, hit me up

I work for the county, the work isnt bad or stressfull but the pay could be MUCH better....im looking for something paying more as well or i'll just go back and get my masters...

This intrigues me...tell us more :nerd:

The company I work for does a lot of second life media, meaning it will have released in theatres or on television already and now its being pushed to VOD or sales outlets. Our clients will send us sources and we'll package them for delivery to other vendors. Sometimes its to broadcast companies overseas and the files will be dubbed, sometimes with subtitles. There's a lot of specs involved, each client's files have to be a certain way. I've only been working in my department for about 4 months which is the last step in the workflow. I started last May in the Vault dealing with all the physical assets like tapes and discs, essentially a shipping/recieving department but we also dealt with a bunch of other tasks. I went to school for multimedia stuff but anyone could probably pick it up if they have a good understanding of how to use a computer.

I'm not getting paid much, so I'm essentially looking at it as a paid internship. I had next to no experience when I started and most places won't give you a look until you have some years under you're belt and are proficient with some programs. I'm just hoping to keep learning, maybe switch departments one more time before I decide it's time to move on or can land a job at a major studio.

What do you do at BofA? How difficult is it to get a job in a branch office and whats the pay like compared to cost of living.

I'm looking to get a banking job on either coast, I need to get out of the midwest and am looking for a situation where I can line up a job, find a place and just move. Any advice on entry level finance positions in NY or Cali? I have a bachelors if that matters.

Program Assistant for a Sports and Fitness Facility in NYC.

Gig is pretty cool, pay is good. Thankful to have it, interested in relocating to LA though...

don't move here, it seems like everything keeps increasing in price every few months :x

frankmatthews - i work in the cash vault, so honestly, i don't know too much about branch office work. all i can tell you is having a bachelor's (assuming it's finance related) helps a lot, but with this economy, the banking sector is in a rut.

i work in finance in boston...and part time personal trainer

pm me if anyone is looking for an internship or something..the program isnt bad at my company.. work normal hours, get paid, and even get some college credits....and they take you out to eat once every week or so....overall good experience.

Right now I work for an entertainment PR firm, it's a small office but the publicist I work for has some clients you've definitely heard of. When I started a few months ago I wasn't really feeling it, but it's been cool the past few weeks.

I'll probably stay on the music/entertainment side of things for another year or so and go into Media Relations for a college or pro team.

This thread is legit though, because landing a job or a position in a career is more about networking and who you know than the job skills itself if based on my experiences.

If anybody is looking for info or insight into PR, journalism, broadcasting, media sales, etc let me know I have a lot of stuff to share lol

I was working pipeline construction for a few months here in North Dakota but had to quit recently. Pay is really good but the hours and and working conditions are crazy, was working 10-14hrs a day 6-7 days a week. Only days off we got was when it was -40 outside :smh: its dangerous work but it def pays well.

OP if you're brave enough look into jobs in North Dakota. Minimum wage is 14/Hr. Heck Walmart pays 17-18 to start. Only thing that sucks is rent is od expensive. Most people live in RV's to save money.

Good luck to you OP
Damb 14hr???

Shoot in South Carolina its $7.25 smfh.
The expensive rent cancels that out though :smh:

If you're in the Broward area and need a job or no someone who needs one, call them because I remember getting an email about a new company that was looking for employees. Not sure what is is but it might be something good.

You're most likely going to have to create a profile and upload your resume.. http://www.ultimatestaffing.com/index.chtml

Full time student
I was a PWM intern for Morgan Stanley part of freshmen year and throughout the summer right after (2012).

Have an interview tomorrow for a Fortune 500 for an international tax position.

I have a degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation I cant find a job in my field at all not that im complaining because I currently work for delta and just got another gig with the post office as a rural mail carrier. Im interested in broadcasting mainly wanted to major in that in school but didnt think my school was a good school for it plus I was in another state and I thought it would have been harder for me. My question is i wanna either do either radio broadcasting or try and get on as a sports PA announcer. Im hoping by the end of the summer ill be in grad school but im kinda confused on what to major in so anyone if anyone know anything that could help would be great im in ATL if that matters.

Anyone a medical lab technician?
i want to do that program and work as an MLT while still studying more and then probably do CLT or whatever else.
So how is the MLT life? thanks
