From what i know, the pre approval will not be an inquiry but if you accept, they will still do a hit to make sure everything is fine before actually giving you the card.

It's what i've heard.

My credit karma score was like 30 points off. True FICO is 750 Ck had me at 721. Trying to hit that 800 mark but I know it dropped bc of a hard pull recently for another credit card :smh:

as long as you get 750 who gives a crap right???

I'm being realistic for my goal

Credit check total is cheap and you get your 3 bureau scores and reports. 7-day trial is $1. When you call to cancel they will offer you the 12-month membership for $15 a month (instead of the normal $30) if you want to keep up with your scores for a year. I just did the 7-day trial and cancelled it

You guys pay for scores?

I've only paid the $1 trial for credit check total but when I need to get a mortgage I will definitely pay for my 3-bureau mortgage scores. I get TU Fico score from discover it so I kinda guestimate what the rest of my scores should be from that. Even though my TU score is my highest score

Im surprised with my score actually. Only have 1 CC with a $1200 limit i got in 2007

Limits don't have to be high unless you're carrying high balances on your card(s). If you've been making on time payments for those 9 years you've had the card your payment history and age of accounts probably boosted your score up

Only myfico.com if I am about to buy a car, lease or mortgage or I have been doing big repairs to my credit.

When I did it it was like $19.99 on myfico for all three scores and up to date notifications on lowering and increase in score. Idk how much they charge now.

^^ that's just your report it doesn't include a score. Just a breakdown of everything listed on your account. You have to pay for the score if you want it from a bureau

I think I goofed. Only been building credit for about 6 months. My score skyrocketed, I don't carry balances pay on time in full & stay lower than 10%. Applied & got approved for a new card recently thinking in the long term it would help my average age of credit. Everything I'm reading now though talks about credit diversity & I'm wondering if a 2nd card will really help my score like I thought it would. May close the newest card & just take the hard pull hit that I acquired.

I mean I don't think there's any reason to close the card unless there's an annual fee. You've already done the damage (probably not even that bad maybe like 10-15 points if you've only been building for 6 months) of shortening your average age of accounts and the hard pull. Your score will bounce back after a couple months. If you close the card it won't reverse anything. Just make sure you really need a card the next time you apply

You
Didn't do anything wrong, don't use the card

Simple as that

If you don't have a card with FICO only way to get FICO scores is to pay for them.

Wait why would you close the card?
