Nice thread, have a few questions myself. My Girl is 22, no job, has never worked or had a credit card. How do i help build her credit? I have a connect with the bank so I got her a checking/savings account at wells fargo. What are some good credit cards for her to apply for? Should I have her goto her bank and see if she can apply for a credit card through them? Appreciate any help

Oh P.S. Little friendly advice. Take your credit SERIOUS, When i turned 18 i got like 3-4 cards and maxxed them thangs out. Credit all bad and still finally fixing it at 28. Charge with some smarts and pay that **** back quick.

If she has no job, why is she looking for a credit card? That's a lose-lose situation. The first thing your girl needs to do is find a job.

Exactly. Think like a lender for a second. If you have no income, you're not going to be able to pay it back unless you have a cosigner on the account that will pay the bill for you.

Sure hope you're not paying her bills. 22 and never having a job isn't a good look.

yea, shes def gonna ruin her credit. get a job first and save money before you go and open a credit card.

If you have your own credit card, add her as a co-applicant, or an authorized user, if you trust her being on your account.
It WILL report on her credit report, and basically help her get on her feet.
Or she could try to get a secured credit card, would have to put a deposit down, but it will def help in the long run.

^^^^ For sure, if your looking to rebuild your credit and get some "derogs" off of it contact Legacy Legal Services and do the free phone consultation. It's a group of paralegals that contest everything you've ever had a late pay on or any "charged off" accounts and only leaves the positive credit. I've seen 440's jump to 700's rather quickly.

Ive got something from an old medical bill when i was 18, stupid insurance company screwed me. Doctor kept sending the bill and everytime we called the Insurance company they would say its been paid. I think after 6+ months it finally got paid after all the phone calls we made what not.

Its the only neg i have on my credit, i looked it up and supposedly i think its supposed to fall off in 2015.

My Credit Union offered me a CC with 10k limit and 8.5% apr. Good card for emergencies.

Plat Amex for everything else (0% interest charge cards ftw)

As part of the Hippa Act they weren't suppose to put medical on your credit at all, all you have to do is right the credit bureau's and contest it and if they don't reply within 30 days it gets removed

are you sure? anymore info and how i contest it? appreciate the info

^^^^ Pretty sure, Wifey is in credit. You pull all your bureaus, Equifax, Transunion and Experian and right their headquarters. Read the Hipaa act, and state the precedence or tell them a reason you shouldn't have it on your credit. It's been paid, it was identity theft, whatever the reason may be, all you have to do is contest it. It's getting overwhelming for all the bureau's to keep up with the amount of stuff being contested so the odds of them returning a letter within 30 days isn't high at all. Whats derog on your Equifax might not be on your Experian and vice versa. You just need to know whats on all your reports

i have another issue, ive never been able to view my equifax. to verify its showing i have loans (which i dont) and have to click which bank its with and the loan amount. When i click none of the above for all it says it cannot verify and i gotta mail a request in.

So now, i gotta fill out some papers and request by mail and im scared as hell maybe someone opened some stuff under my name.

:smh:

It's quite possible, if you got a dude who works at a car lot I'd have him pull it for you!! Equifax and transunion are the 2 most commonly used, experian is rarely used.. Most major lenders pull your bureau from 1 of the 2

If you dispute it since it already have been paid, the medical company might not even bothering screwing with it and it will get deleted

Same thing happened to me with equifax. Said I had a mortgage or something. Ended up mailing in a request. Nothing looked out of the ordinary on the report

What I been doing is instead of using my debit I use my credit for anything and pay it every month on time in full

Also dont use it if you dont have the money
this is exactly what i do

some sort of cash back card

i make like $50-$75 a month off of my chase freedom, all my bills that you can pay with a card come out plus gas/food
