I've had my CC since December and I am trying to get another one. My credit score is 705 but the things holding it back are "age of credit history " and "total amount of accounts" .. So I just applied for a chase personal freedom card but I got denied because of my credit history age. What do you guys think I should do? Wait a bit and apply for another one or just try right away? Any recommendations? I want a card with cash back rewards and some kind of "spend $x in the first 3 months and get $x back" type of deal

I have a BOFA cash rewards card or whatever it's called

You could go for one of the AMEX but honestly id just chill. What cards do you have already and for how long have you had em?

I told yal Chase is the hardest to get wouldn't recommend applying for them unless you have well established credit, very few inquiries and less than 5 new accounts.

I just got approved for the Chase freedom card and I've only been building my credit for about a year.

I did get denied for the discover IT card though back in November and January.

If you're looking for more accounts, go to your bank or credit union wherever you're holding your money. Apply for a CC there and your chances will be higher

Did you try calling the reconsideration line? You may be able to get approved if you talk to somebody. 5 months of history and a 700 score you should be able to get a recon for the freedom. But I agree with beezy chase is tough

Yea chase denied me after they sent me an offer in the mail when I was just getting started . I wish i knew about the reconsideration line at the time but i reapplied a year later after getting a card with my bank (BOA) and macys and they approved me.

I would wait a year or so and maybe try an easier card cause you dont want too many declines on your record either

I have a "BankAmericard Rewards Platinum Plus Visa" from bofa. I got it in December after they sent me a bunch of things in the mail. I've been banking with them for years and they were sending me letters saying I was pre approved for about a year before I actually signed up for it

I also got a pre approved letter from American Express for the Blue Cash Everyday and it's good but I want to be able to redeem the sign up bonus as cash but they only do a statement credit

I'll do that. Thanks

I'm using this site to look at my options
I'm pre approved for #2 but I don't like the redeem options
Thinking about #3 but it's meh. #6 and #7 seem good. It says 7 has a more lax approval rate but they don't have a sign up bonus. #5 seems alright but I don't like the way the card looks . #10a and #11 seem good too. 15a is what I have now

#4 would be ideal but I got denied. Def gonna call the reconsideration line

Obviously I can't do anything about the credit age but I'm trying to sign up for a new card to help get the total accounts factor better

Yours is almost identical to mine but i have some inquiries from getting my mortgage.

And it sucks because I need more accounts but that will also lower my average age. I just gotta be patient I guess

How long does it take for inquires to fall off anyone know?

So since I got declined for the chase card it's going to affect my score ? Is that what u mean by inquiry?

Inquiries affect your score whether your are approved or denied. Albeit it's only a small drop (like 5 points per inquiry maybe). Inquiries are when your credit is pulled by a bank or credit agency when you apply for credit, a loan, or get a credit check done.

Try calling the reconsideration line though. You may be approved and it won't hurt to try. Won't be another hard pull or anything.

Ok got it thanks. So does checking my score actually affect it? I have the credit karma app and I check it a few times a week

I need to go back and read the rest of this thread
