24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

never heard of someone financing a 2k car  didnt think it was possible

Is it true that a secure credit card boost your credit score high compared to a regular credit card that you get pre approved from a credit card company?

^^ I agree but it's a game, bad credits better then no credit!! Finance a 2 grand car??? First off a 2 grand car more then likely isn't gonna be financeable because of the year and mileage, 2nd the place who will finance a 2 grand car is gonna charge you. 25-30% interest depending on where you live.. Average gross profit on a car deal is 3500 plus, banks and dealers would rather run a 2 grand impala to the auction and get cashed out, take your 5-10k car and borrow a smaller amount against the title and build your credit if you don't wanna take the cc route
I did it before .  I basicaly worked something out with the buy here pay here dealer. I paid $2500 for the car.. $400 interest...Sold the car for $2200 when i was finished and my score jumped by 79 points. Then i did the same thing to my girlfriend but here credit jumped 87 points

hmmm. i might have to try that but idk if i wanna go through the hassle of selling the car after

Good luck my dude, atleast your trying to go down the right path to being an adult! I'm no credit pro, but like I said I messed with finance and wifeys and f&i manager at a big store so we chop it up about credit, from ours to other peoples on the regular!! It's like the BCS nobody knows the true formula to build your credit the quickest way I just know small tricks to the trade... Like dude said at top his moms through him on a few cards now he's in the 8's. I'm guessing her max line of credit was pretty big to build so rapidly. I was mid-low 7's with really no huge lines of credit other then my mortgage, I dropped to a 560 because when we built our crib dish network couldn't get a clear line of sight so they sent me a box for one of the 2 receivers so I mailed back the big one and called them and told them to send me another box for the small one.. I put the receiver on a shelf in my garage and didn't think about afterwards because I travel and stay away from home sometimes for a couple months. The only reason I even chimed in on this subject is because I got a call Friday morning from my wife who's like hey we just took a 2011 a6 prestige with 16k and all the features you were looking for, for the super low.... It was a terrible winter for us midwesters and somebody smacked my rover recently so I had an insurance check and I was literally financing about 9k and 2500 of it was on a set of forgiatos they agreed to switch off an e-class. So my wife pulls out the report and these dudes sent me to collections without a phone call or a letter over a box they never mailed me with a return label.... Clowns, I went to my personal bank and they straightened me up but still 200 points for their mistake? Sounds like some BS to me, 10-12 years of on time payments maybe 3 slowpays in my life because I don't use automatic withdraw and I was traveling and missed the payment by 5-10 days but none the less, shady game..

Macys, image Rolex and maybe a chase payment but all that was circa 07 before my wife took over paying the bills

Lexington Law is good but my wife reccomends Legacy legal services.. Their turn around scores is a lot quicker because they don't advertise and spend SEO like Lexington. They just get straight to the bizz

Does anyone ever get Amex offers? I just got one for the green card. I guess my credit must be good enough lol

I'm fairly new to this, that's why I asked. What are the requirements for the gold? I doubt I'll get it sense I'm still in college with a PT

they hand em out like candy

its a charge card, not a credit card. so what ever you spend, you have to pay it all at once.

i recently got one. no idea why tho

175 Annual Fee....

I spend over $600 bucks on annual fees a year :x

but having the luxury of going anywhere is well worth it.

This AMEX card is brand new dropped a couple of weeks back!

NO annual fee + 2x on grocery's

just looking at my fico score from my discover statements and it seems to be fluctuating around 10-18 points from like 750 to 740 from one month then back up to 756 the next month. don't know what I'm doing that makes it fluctuate like that. I always try to pay a little bit more than half my balance, sometimes more when I can afford it and on my other CCs I pay it all, usually switch my main CCs depending on the rewards.

From the site:

The Amex EveryDay Card is a credit card, which means you have the flexibility to carry a balance or pay in full each month

Might apply for this card in a few months.

same here

is that 10,000 points worth anything?

25000 points gets you a flight to anywhere in Canada/USA on most airlines.

Below are the Amex transfer partners.

Once in a while some transfer partners will offer transfer bonus. Like 30% or 40%.

i think this one offers gift cards and items, i had looked on the site before.

plus i dont fly so using them on flights would be worthless but then again i dont use my cards that much. only for little things to make a balance then pay off. the only one ive actually used a lot was my discover with 10% on NDC but as of late NDC wouldnt even let me add anything so i guess i saved myself a few hundred dollars
