24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

Is the credit score from your cc fico report the same as the one use to finance a car?

Fico is ur middle score from the three credit repositories..so whichever credit report u are using that would be ur fico..

so with different reports..ur fico will most likely change..credit reports are good for 90 days..realistically..ur credit score fluctuates all the time

He's talking about the scoring model. There are many different FICO scoring models.

I won't get into it but I made a purchase and got screwed over and Amex screwed me over even with photographic proof and etc

About to cancel it soon so don't mind me

Does anyone else think this is a crock of ****? A single credit score is enough of a black box as is, why they make even more complex with different scoring models and not really knowing which bank or CC is using which model for what?

How can they make such a lack of transparency? Or am I missing something?

Its complete BS . I know my car and mortgage scores are way lower than my CC scores .

These scoring models are why some banks are harder to get approved for. Pen Fed and USAA for example.

I just got my CSR in the mail. It came in a regular envelope instead of a box like this:

I guess it was the cost of having it expedited

It looks nice, but the box was going to be thrown under my bed so I didn't even care. I'd rather have the extra few days to put money on it. I have family coming into town so I know it's going to get some burn this weekend.

for  the $150 bonus when you spend over $500 in 3 months, do you need to pay off the balance or wait for the 3 months to claim it?

Depends on who the creditor is. I work for a CU and 100% of the credit line is available for a cash advance. Unlike other creditors we do not charge 20-25% for the cash advances either but rather a $5 transaction fee for the cash advance.

Banks like Chase and BofA will charge 20-25% of the cash advance and have a separate interest rate you pay on the cash advance aside from the balance you already owe, it could 29.99%

Cash advances can be the devil. Beware.

I love my amex blue everyday card. 3% on all groceries and 2% on gas. Just got a promotion last week also for 10% cash back on gas until I hit $250 spent. Basically a free $25 for gas. If anyone wants a referral for the $50 let me know and I can hook you up.

Whoa how did you get that 10% on gas? I've got a blue cash everyday too
