24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

^^ But do you have to book the travel through the chase shopping portal or anything like that?

For example if I stay at a hotel one random night instead of driving home and swipe my credit card, that would count right?

They pretty much answered your question already, but no you don't have to book through the travel portal. And I thought it was just an airline credit not a travel credit so it probably doesn't work with hotels, only flights or purchases at airports. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

You're wrong >D

Looks like it does apply to Hotels, wonder if that includes AirBnb? I will give them a call tomorrow with a list of questions

I don't travel enough to make a Reserve card worth it to me. Maybe in the future.

But I read that Bloomberg article, Chase outchea EATING! Amex have their heads up their ***** too.

.

Travel credit includes AirBnB.

Typically if you multiply the limit by 3.33 you get pretty close to the limit the person listed on the application. That doesn't include credit increases that were offered over time from a company.

AMEX stuck in their ways gonna get left behind.

I mean I feel like if travel at least twice a year the Reserve is worth it. Too bad I'm sure I'll miss out on the 100K points.1 more year til all of the mortgage related and auto related pulls drop.

You pay $1000 but the $300 credit is applied in like a day or two.

Interesting because I just booked an AirBnB and the credit was applied immediately once the charge posted.

Also, the credit applies to Travel. I've had a part of the 300 already applied to parking expenses I've made.

Correct. The charge doesn't typically post the same day. That's why I said a day or two. The credit is applied as soon as the charge post. I had about $50 in reimbursements for Uber/Lyft and then the rest taken out for a hotel deposit that hit my account. It's a lot quicker than most people would expect.

^^^ Thanks bro for that info. Im looking to book a mini mansion on Airbnb rental for Mardi Gras 2017, that will help cover the cost.

How long did it take you guys to get approved? Is there a way to expedite the process? is it better to call or do it online?

I have almost excellent credit, bordering the 800 Mark.

Just do it online and you should get a decision ASAP. Once approved call and have them expedite the card if you really need it ASAP.

I just did it now, but it said 7-10 Days.

I just closed my Sapphire Preferred earlier this week, I should've waited. I am still under the 5/24 rule so I hope they accept me.

I have a checking and savings with Chase, so hopefully they rule in my favor.

After reading the benefits, this card is a no brainer.

$300 Travel Credit + $100 TSA Global Entry Credit + Access to Lounges + Car Rental Benefits + Flight Delay/Lost Baggage Insurance + No Foreign Transaction Fee

This card pays for itself really, I got scared with the $450 annual fee, but it's really cancels out.

Will let you guys know once I get word. Im heading to NY in November, Cancun/Cuba in January, and Mardi Gras in February.

I probably will hit the $4,000 spending within 2 months. :D

No worries! If you got the 7-10 message and then denied, you might be able to go to Chase branch for reconsideration.

Everyone should check out the r/churning subreddit if you havent already.

I'm wondering when are they going to wake up. :smh:

Never lol might end up like blockbuster. Man looking back at their statements on Netflix:lol: so dam ignorant and stuck in their ways. Just sad.

Honestly might downgrade my PRG card to a free charge card. I only want one AF card and the Reserve will be that .

If any of you guys happen to ever go to Vegas, get the Hyatt card. They status match to mLife gold which came in clutch this weekend. Hotel check-in line took 2 minutes for gold/plat member, general check-in probably would've taken 30 minutes. You also get a priority line for buffets and other restaurants. Each year, you'll get a free night at any of the Category 4 properties anywhere around the world, so that more than pays for the AF.

I'm thinking of getting the IHG card as well for their free night/year and use it at the Venetian/Palazzo.

you should call in, sometimes those 7-10 days messages are just because they nee identity verification or something. There's plenty of people who call in, to confirm information with them and are approved. Good luck man, update us.

Everytime I convince myself that I don't need that Chase Reserve Card, you guys post another article and/or savings that the card will give. Between that and those 2 flights overseas next year have me thinking....

I'm barelyyyyy hanging onto my platinum card.

I'm going next month but I'm staying at the Westgate. :smh: My boys mom has a time share and its just too cheap to pass up. $100 for up to 7 days. I booked my flight with points so basically a free trip.

I really regret not applying for the IHG card back when there was a 80k sign up bonus.

The Hyatt centric on south beach is a cat 4 hotel. I'm definitely going to apply for the Hyatt card when I try for the CSR since Chase combines pulls.

Everytime I convince myself that I don't need that Case Reserve Card, you guys post another article and/or savings that the card will give. Between that and those 2 flights overseas next year have me thinking....

It's crazy what some of those guys pull off especially when it comes to manufactured spending.

I definitely figured this would be something you knew or practiced

Lol man I just know alot about the credit game never practiced the extreme point accumulation approaches.

Just realized Amex doesn't have a free charge card smh . The green card and prg are the same cost $95 (after $100 credit )
