24 Looking to build Credit... What are some good tips on your first Credit Card

I thought i was going to get declined like last month after not hearing back after 2 days. Got a raise at work so i put down my new annual gross income and i guess it helped

If it didn't work you could always put you make $700k a year to get that bump

Lmao i still dont know if it was a blessing that i waitied for a credit card.

I wish i had the age of accounts now but i stayed away from all of those issues that could have killed me.

Same way I feel . I wish I would of back for the age. At the same time no damns would of been given the way I was back then spending money I didnt have etc.

It would of killed me.

Never had a discover card. Outside of their points and rewards program, I don't think there's any advantages depending on where you live and who accepts it. Seems like there's not many places anymore that don't take Discover or AmEx

I'm gonna do that right now. Discover is straight disrespekting me with this $11.2k limit.

Just did the Discover CL increase and it worked. Got bumped to 14k. Should I wait another 30 days before trying it again since I'm under the 25k line?

Edit: Thanks @jon4rd

You should wait 30 days no matter what limit you're at. You'll likely be denied if you request again under 30 days.

Anyone try to increase their limit with Chase recently? Their site has been down for the last month it seems :nerd:

Discover is really generous with their increases. Got another 5K increase and I barely use the card.

when asking for a credit increase, what variables do you guys take into account for the amount of credit requested?

I believe so. Cap One is stingy with the increases.

Took me a year to finally get an increase. And it was only $1k more.

I feel I am in a parallel universe from this thread, every card I have is generous with the exception of Discover

I have been with them 4 months, 1 approval (500) and 1 Denial.

You have to wait 3 months before your first CLI with discover then you can request every 30 days so you're right on track honestly.
