ive only seen people say that when it comes to display shoes. this isnt because they are tried on. its because the shoes are "handled" more or have been sitting out and have yellowed some.

I've had people asking for a discount for a display shoe. I proceed to ask them if they buy produce cuz they have no choice but to buy display produce, everyone is touching them tryna find a good one, and they eat them!
The truth is, shoes from the back get handled waayyy more than shoes on display. Most of the time, the worst that happens to display shoes is it gets picked up and looked at. You will very rarely get a shoe from the back that hasn't been tried on at least once.
As for yellowing, if it gets too yellowed to the point where it's unsellable, some places will just damage them out.

This is such a grey area. Everyone has their own opinion when they sell their shoes on what's "DS" or "Pass as DS". I prefer a DS shoe to be unworn and factory laced still, but that's just cause i'm ocd and picky about stuff. If it wasn't for that, if they just put their foot in and tried it on for a few seconds or something and nothing more, that's pretty much DS to me.

They should put some kind of seal on the laces that has to be intact to claim DS LOL
, if it's broken it can still be new but not DS. It's def a gray area because from this thread you can tell DS means different things to different people...

I think the best way to put it would be pass as Ds if the shoes were tried on. If i were to sell that shoe I would still charge Ds prices though

DS means nothing to me but for whatever reason the word irks me. I try my shoes on in store before I buy them and try my shoes on as soon as I open the box from delivery. The people who put them on a shelf and just look att hem are the ones concerned with it imo. So what if it's been tried on?! As long as sales people weren't practicing windmills in the stock room in 'em I'm good.

If they are tried on with a pair of ocks on it is DS, if someone goes sockless it drops down to an 8/10.

I consider DS to be tried on. If you take more than 3 steps, it would be a pass as DS.

I would agree that if it was tried on or worn and you took steps then it's not DS. To me, the word deadstock means that the shoe is brand new and unworn.

Trying the shoe on doesn't count as being WORN. Being worn is when you put in time and accumulate steps. Difference between factory laced and deadstock but still can go for brand new.

I agree with you bro.lol is this guy serious? a new car will ALWAYS have some miles on it because it has to be driven onto the truck to be delivered. What do you think they assembled it at the dealership?And who do you think drives the car around the lot to be parked? Some of you guys just don't live in the real world I guess.
And deadstock to me, means I was the first person to wear them outside. I'm not really worried that some guy tried them on in his room or at the store.

Yeah...y'all are a little over the top with the meaning of ds. If the damn shoe is new, it's ds. End of story. Most of the shoes you think you purchased as DS in a brick and mortar store have actually been tried on. Do you know how long it takes to make the factory lace knot? Less time than a regular one. You just loop it around and pull it through. Sales people re do the factory lace knot on the regular. I tried on a pair of Bred XI's, in my house. Cleaned up the sole real nice and re did the factory lace knot. I'm selling them as DS. If you can find a way to tell I tried them on, or tell me how they aren't still DS, you can have the shoes for free. The shoes aren't DS after they've been worn, had MANY steps taken in them, or been worn outside. Trying them on in a store, taking 10 steps in them, refactory lacing them, and putting them in the box makes them still DS...and you AREN"T gonna be able to tell.

When I first saw that Deadstock Seal on the Paranorman Box I thought that was genius until I realized how much of a headache that would be for retailers who's customers wanted to try them on. I think it would be good for limited releases because they sell out right away anyway
