There wasn't an incest theme in the OG movie (I don't think that would fly in 1960) but there was a suggestion that their relationship was closer than normal.

The mother isn't in the OG movie but they explain that because he was so close with her and she had dominated his life, when she died, he developed a split personality disorder in which he became "the mother". "Mother" would be jealous that her son is getting close to other women so she would murder them. The show does a good job on showing how that relationship developed and the strong hints of incest show how Norma and Norman were both a litte off from the jump

Anyway great show, hope the main focus stays on norman/norma because the side plots with the town could derail the entire show if it becomes too ridiculous. Let's see we got pot fields, burning bodies, goth emo rival dude,, dead bodies buried in forest, sex trafficking, asian dude with drug connections, that cop who adheres to "eye for an eye" policy, and the girl being tortured/injected in the chamber. Plus the whole town in general is one big mystery with regular people being rich and engaging in those illegal activities previously mentioned to generate the town's economy. The only good guy the bates will trust in the end has to be eyeliner cop, he is the only genuine person in that town. Lets just hope it all connects back to norman/norma's story. But its gripping television and I can't wait for the next.

And yeah the following is basura, 5 more to go and ill be done with it.

last episode was okay, ending was solid - I don't like Freddie Highmore, I think he's an awful actor
 
This weeks episode got me hyped

Now it's either in Norman's head or my local boy Mike Vogel is a psycho himself
 
Gave this show a watch cause of Vera Farmiga. Didn't really know what to expect. Like it so far, has a dark side and is unpredictable.
