Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

You never know how well Bazz will be ... His UCLA days may have been a slight disappointment but that means nothing now.

To reiterate I don't think they draft 4 players so packaging those 3 picks to potentially move up makes sense. Maybe they don't target Bazz but Alonzo Gee and CJ Miles being the only. 3 option means they have to address that position. Which they will

Fair enough, that is a position of need for the Cavs, I agree. And i'm sure they will attempt to make some moves to resolve that issue with the 3 position. I just feel that Bazz has some glaring weaknesses that will severely limit him in the pros. He's a 3 that can't shoot, can't get by anybody, and can't create for himself and others which is why in large part his assist totals were so low. Got all his points off of rebounds and free throws.

Nobody likes Oladipo to the wizards with the 3rd and letting him play the 3?

Wall
Beal
Oladipo

That would be great to watch on d and in the open court. I like Porter but I feel like he's already close to his ceiling as a player.

I dont see otto falling pass the wizards, he will atleast be better than ariza

I'm really curious what the magic will do.. Will they take mclemore or reach for burke

Cavs will probably go Noel.. Wizards will go porter if he's there.. Will mclemore fall to 4

And suns go oladipo.. Pelicans go with Len

Do the kings try to trade boogie

which is why I dearly hoped for GRIII to stay in the draft. I thought he'd be a really good pick for Cavs, especially considering the fact that he was projected somewhere in mid 1st round, well within Cavs range.

After Porter though, there's no worthy SF to draft IMO. But i don't want Cavs to draft Porter with their #1 pick. I guess if they are drafting Noel with #1 pick, they should seek to get a SF via free agency.

You love GR3  ...

Cavs won't take Otto #1 ... Only way he's a Cavalier is if we trade down a few spots, but I honestly don't know if a team out there loves Noel to the point where they will make a trade up. We shall see though. Josh Smith is an interesting FA but no way we offer him the max and sadly that is what he's seeking..

I got you, but you make it seem like he has NBDL or overseas written on him which isn't the case. I like Bazz. Don't see how the Cavs getting him along with Noel would be a bad thing.

Shabazz is "unathletic" now?

Before you and others start with this non-sense, post any clip of Shabazz looking athletic at UCLA.

Can't believe people are talking about the Cavs passing up on Noel because they have Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller. This is how a team like the TWolves passes up on DMC for Wes Johnson because they have Darko Milicic at center.

LOL yea I really thought GRIII was the best SF prospect until he pulled out. Oh well :rolleyes

Shabazz isn't really a bad option. I think he's being called overrated way too often to the point where now he's kinda underrated.

He is still getting into the shape, and he had something like 9% body fat in the combine. If he can get that down to 5~6%, I'd think he can regain his athleticism somewhat.

The thing i'm more worried about him is his lack of production in every other category besides scoring. Also, it seems like he has that alpha dog mentality, but that's not gonna fly with Kyrie being the franchise player for Cavs. If he accepts that he's at best 3rd string on that team and produce 15 pts 5 reb with some efforts on D? sure, but that's a lot of ifs.

you can't teach noels instincts , kg was a complete stick when he came in the league

he's raw on the offensive end but he's pretty fluid so it's not likes he's clumsy and awkward

like kwame

For someone 15 pound overweight Bazz has nice athleticism...I saw him at Barclays his in-game athleticism is definitely good. Rose up very light and almost threw a nasty one.

I think Shabazz on the Pistons would be a interesting look potentially considering Monroe is a good passer.

Who has said that?

Mclemore going to the cavs so they basically admitting dion waiters will be cheeks

Do the Magic draft another big man that leaves them?

Shabazz was never athletic in my eyes dude dunks as if he needs all of his wingspan to dunk

^ honestly how much weight can he put on?

I feel he can be at most 225 heavier than that and he will be injury prone

He's coming off a ACL tear, which could also explain why he isn't bulking up at the moment.

Edit:

Different injury situation, but don't want to return to playing with added stress on the knees like Greg Oden did.

Washington lucked up big time moving up from 8 to 3.

Now they can get Porter, assuming CLE takes Noel. Very good night for them.

Noel & Varejao will be a fun pair defensively.

Noah & Chandler are around 230. Camby was 230 at his peak too.

Noel can get there.

This draft sucks

guarantee none of them will make any big noise and will eventually be out the league in a few years.

Maybe Noel can stick around longer because he can block shots.

I really dont buy the hype for noel. I don't see him as being nba ready. I definitely think Cleveland could use someone other than him.

I know it's a different situation because Zo was NBA-ready, but I feel like his defensive prowess is what we can expect from Noel once he bulks up.

When Zo was a rook, he wasn't built like he was later in his career, but still came out averaging 20/10/3.5 blocks.

I don't expect the offensive output that Zo had throughout his career, but if he has the defensive impact, that's more than sufficient.

Plus, he'll get 3 oops from Kyrie a game...

...And 4 from LeBron. :nerd: :pimp:

He's a 19 year old kid that's still growing, he'll fit out correctly with the training staff and diet.

He's not gonna be a bruiser but "thin" forwards/centers can be productive.

The only thing that I worry about is they are going to play him @ Center.

In the next ten years he's going to have to deal with..

Roy Hibbert, Brook Lopez, Drummond/Monroe, and Vucevic.

Those dudes are huge compared to Noel. I think he can fair his own on most nights, but when he goes up against a guy like Big Hibb? YEEESSSSH.

You cant teach rebounding and blocking shots. A post move and a 15 footer? sure.

I like that Tyson Chandler comparison.

Tyson Chandler was a bust from a draft perspective though, because of development time.

These defensive anchor types are easy to
miss on.
