Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

It’s obvious that Cavs wants to be in the playoffs and have Mike Brown which is a defensive coach (as they labeled). IMO, they’ll take Noel at #1 to improve more on the defensive end which is also a good back up for either Varejao/Thompson, then Cavs will likely trade the remaining 3 draft spots (w/ 1 roster) for a veteran SF via trade/FA.

Tyson Chandler was a bust from a draft perspective though, because of development time.

These defensive anchor types are easy to
miss on.
If Noel can develop a mediocre jumpshot he could be a Kenyon Martin or Marcus Camby type player

Quite Frankly Noel isn't your ideal Superstar that you want with the # 1 Pick.... but you already have that with Kyrie so at this point your just compiling all stars around him

I hope Orlando takes Burke so McLemore slips to Charlotte.

Charlotte than could slot him next to Kemba and then they get a top 2 pick next year and could take Randle.

PG- Kemba
SG- McLeMore
SF- MKG
PF- Randle
C- Biyombo

That would be a nice core moving forward. Shooting, D, Penetration, all nice fitting pieces.

And I'm hoping the Wizards get Porter.... He's another player who fits PERFECT with Wall.... Can knock down the open shot and play Great D

They'll listen to any offers. They are open to anything.

Noel is a bust all of a sudden? Is it because of the team that won the lotto?

Bennett would never see the floor with the Wizards unless he picks up his defense.

Doubt Noel will be a "bust"

He's the #1 prospect based off of his day 1 abilities, as soon as he steps on the court he's rebounds and blocks. I just think he is who he is and there isn't that much of an upside.

I'm very surprised if the Cavs trade down. It hasn't been done in 20 years.

Heard that too. Maybe they're just worried that Noel might be another Darko, Thabeet kinda guy. I don't agree, but maybe they feel like the risk of taking a guy like him isn't worth it if they can still get an Otto or Ben Mac while still getting something in return for that #1 overall pick.

If the Cavs can get a deal that would still get them porter, they would be fools not to take it....even tho they still could grab a C at 19 tho :nerd:

Nerlens is too good at what he's good at to be a bust. Unless you think he's injury-prone now.

Darko wasn't the defensive dude Noel was, PLUS dude never got any burn and was buried on the bench.

Maybe a three way if they want Porter.

#1 to Washington.
#3 and #13 to Cleveland.
Thompson or Jan or someone like that to Dallas.

Could also be a team like Portland, who's stayed they want to move their pick.

Dallas wants to move theirs for more cap room. They'd probably be willing to shed guys like Vince or Marion too.

Maybe I don't remember correctly, but wasn't Darko so heavily recruited BECAUSE he was a defensive minded guy? I know he wasn't nearly what he was billed at, but I coulda sworn when he was being recruited that's one of the things that we heard.

I know it's not the same because he was international, and Nerlens we saw first hand.

EXACTLY lol there wasn't ONE mention of Noel being a bust prior to the Cavs being announnced as winners.

....and people wonder why I defend my teams to the fullest. The bias and hate is obvious here.

Before the Cavs won the lottery: Noel = Dwight Howard. After the Cavs win the lottery: Noel = Thabeet

WHAT UP THOUGH. CLEVELAND IS WINNING :smokin :pimp:

I personally don't agree with the bust label, but I don't think he'll be rookie of the year. He'll have plenty of rehab, and I think there's a good chance it takes some time to adjust to the system, regardless of where he lands.

I don't think he's an immediate impact guy like Tyreke or LeBron or Damian were. Most defensively minded players aren't. AD struggled with injuries and while he was productive, he definitely had struggles.
