Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

I didn't see Dirk deteriorating much at 35 after the numbers he put up being 34 years old and all....I think he has 2 solid years left.

Houston is the better team with younger players.

In 2 years, Beard will be 25, Parsons 27, Asik 28, Lin 26, and guys like Jones (23) and Robinson (24) will hopefully be contributing.

It's a completely different and better situation in Houston than with Dallas. To me, it's a no brainer.

Houston, with Howard, IMMEDIATELY becomes a contender. Not just a playoff team...but a squad who should be competing for the #1 seed over the next 3-5 seasons.

*P - is it in the cards for the Rockets to realistically add both Howard and Paul?

The Rockets would need to trade Asik and Lin while taking back nothing to have a shot to go along with other minor moves (Delfino and Garcia's non-guaranteed years).

I'm assuming that Asik would have to be moved in order for D12 to come?

Maybe package Lin / Asik ?

D12 us unrestricted.

I think if they're looking to add paul as well, they'd have to do a S&T to make the salaries work out.

For the Mavs, moving Marion would be easy.

Add in the fact that Vince was desired last deadline, and guys like Roddy can be packaged with the pick too, and we can get enough room to make max offers to both Dwight and Paul.

Also, Dirk has gone on record that he's going to take a huge paycut if they land one of the two.

The pitch isn't Dwight/Paul/Dirk. It's Dwight/Paul/Dirk, and another high level player the following year.

Then Cuban try's it again next year lol. In pretty sure he is hell bent on not getting into cap hell with a avg team

I personally think they settle if they don't hit this year. Something like Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith, unfortunately.

Since no one answered me before (i don't think):

D.J. Stephens has recorded a 46-inch vertical leap during a workout on Wednesday hosted by the Brooklyn Nets, according to a Tweet from ESPN's Chad Ford.

Stephens averaged 7.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game in his senior season at Memphis, his first in which he received significant minutes. Stephens was also named Conference-USA Defensive Player of the Year.

Stephens has developed a reputation as a dunk artist due to his immense leaping ability.

My main man DJ :pimp:

If he gets to the NBA, he would have make his niche of being an energy guy (preferably a SF tweener). I think he would fit in well on some teams and possibly become one of those feel good stories. I'm not sure how many players in the NBA have asthma, but as hard as he plays, that may keep him from even making a huge impact in the league.

Don't see why Stephens can't be a high level defender in the league, his offense is pretty atrocious though. His leaping ability is out of this world, would love to see him on a team that ran the break a lot aka not Brooklyn.

If someone is going to come from off the radar and stick on a roster, my money is on Jamelle Hagins.

Noel is bust proof if he stays healthy, you don't just forget how to anticipate like he does on defense.

Forget athleticism, legngth, height, his defensive IQ is off the charts

Dudes saying he's a bust didn't watch UK at all last season

I hope Orlando takes Burke so McLemore slips to Charlotte.

Charlotte than could slot him next to Kemba and then they get a top 2 pick next year and could take Randle.

PG- Kemba
SG- McLeMore
SF- MKG
PF- Randle
C- Biyombo

That would be a nice core moving forward. Shooting, D, Penetration, all nice fitting pieces.

I like the way you think bruh. :smokin

Hopefully Orlando doesn't screw this up. :smh:

so in this case Charlotte would take Julius Randle over Jabari Parker who will be a Duke product and is considered to be a better prospect?

IMO Parker could easily be a 4 in the NBA

There are other factors that go into the draft, but if you look over the history of the Bobcats they tend to select prospects that won big in college and deemed high motor-character. Doesn't that describe like Oladipo to a tee, especially with Henderson entering free agency?

Nah he does have some post game, but his body won't be able to catch up with bruising PFs in NBA. It's another story if Jabari can bulk up though. Similar to Melo.. I don't think Melo was big enough to play 4 when he entered the league.

What Chad Ford talking about saying VO could very well go to Orlando? I don't think that's the right place for him to go.

Parker 6-8 241 ~ 7'0 Wingspan

Randle 6-9 248 ~ 6'11 Wingspan

I'm not gonna lie that I've seen much of either of them play because IMO HS highlights and allstar games are not accurate evaluations of talent, I was just shocked to see that multiple people are either down on Jabari or high on Randle.

Interesting.

Randle would be an elite athlete in the NBA if you put him in there tonight, there's not a lot of teenagers you can say that about. He's got the goods, has range to 3, very nice handle for his size, relentless on the glass and is young Amare type explosive at the rim. Plays hard on both ends with relentless energy and is aggressive. If he wasn't in the same class as Wiggins, to me he's the #1 prospect. He's a prototype 4 in the league of today.

I think Jabari will be great maybe Player of The Year worthy at Duke next year with he team they have. He's just now getting fully healthy and is going to be in peak condition. The only reason I'm not as high on him is that he doesn't have the potential Randle does. I still think he'll be a great player he has a great mindset and is very aware of his game at very young. His shot is only getting better and he's more athletic than he's shown. Whoever gets pick 1-3 next year can get a franchise guy.
