Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

Love could very well force his hand this upcoming season if the wins don't start coming.

Like a Melo/Dwight situation where he can dictate where he wants to go.

Edit:

The caveat is Flip Saunders has been brought in :smile:lol) to reconcile the relationship between Love and management. I think Love will give them a shot, but who knows.

Absolutely perfect situation if the Cavs get DMC for the #1 + Varejeo

The Kings just need to blow up that team, they have absolutely 0 direction. If played right they can have a better team than w.e they have now in 2-3 seasons just by stockpiling picks. Their new GM cant possibly **** up on drafting as much as years past.

Btw, if i'm the Twolves I draft Shabazz. They need a 6th man who can come in and be instant offense 10-15 shots a game. Plus if he ever amounts to anything more thats a plus for them. They're a VERY good team when healthy. Easily a 6-8th seed.

Kevin Love has a player option after next season.

I think he and his brother have made it quite clear he's out the door the minute he gets

I think that's more people taking his brutal honesty out of context. Love tried to sign a 5-year deal and ownership didn't want to give him one. If he really hated Minnesota, he would've pushed for the player option or shorter deal. It's true he might leave but I think winning would've cured most of these problems. If the Wolves are healthy, they have 4th/5th seed type talent in the West. Love playing for a winning team, with a loyal fanbase and one of the best coaches in the league + next to Rubio and Pekovic - I doubt he leaves that situation. This year kind of ruined that though, so I wouldn't be surprised if Minny tries to blow it up or Saunders screws them up somehow.

Cav fans would trade the #1 pick AND Varejao for DMC? That's a great trade for the Kings. That's way too risky for the Cavs. Varejao had a LOT of value this season before getting injured, Noel is a top notch prospect and DMC is more of a wildcard than a dominant force right now. Put him on the right team and yeah, he might thrive. The Cavs without Varejao isn't the right team.

I'm not too impressed with Cousins anyway. His low post game hasn't translated well from college, which is why he takes 5 jumpshots a game and shoots under 50% from the field. Terrible team defender. Terrible attitude. I would take the risk for a lower pick but not the 1st pick AND my team's best big man.

^^^tThe thing about it from the Cavs perspective tho is would you rather have Cousins, hoping that a change of scenery and playing with Kyrie will work out for them and they can get some wins...or take a chance on Noel who is rehabbing from an ACL and the team would most likely still be terrible for a couple more seasons while he gets healthy and develops?

That's not a bad trade for the Cavs. Andy is a solid contributor but is injury prone.

Cousins matures he and Thompson have a potential to be a very solid combo to go with Kyrie

Kevin Love wanted that 5th year... that should be one of your biggest tellers on whether or not it's already guaranteed :smile:lol) he's going to be out the door when that option comes around. Him wanting it, and then being notoriously bitter about not getting it makes one think he likes the situation he's in, likes playing in Minneapolis, and just needed to be assured that he was wanted. Which is why Kahn's out, and Flips in.

The wins will come... as long as the injuries don't. The Timberwolves would've made their second playoffs in two years had they been even RELATIVELY injury free. I mean, don't forget that they were 21-19 the moment Rubio tore his ACL, and en route to a playoff spot. Not to mention, Bill Simmons projected them as a 5th or 6th seed in a Grantland article before Rubio's injury. Yeah that's just one man's opinion, but some take him as the bible on here so . Then Love missed the rest of the season with a concussion. Fast forward to this year...

Rubio doesn't play until December, and doesn't get his legs back under him until February. Kevin Love played 18 out of the 82 games :smh: Kirilenko missed 25 games. Pekovic missed 20 games. Budinger missed 49 games. Brandon Roy missed 77 games, Malcolm Lee missed 66 games.. hell, even Josh Howard who management had to sign in the middle of the season due to all these injuries tore his ACL 11 games in.

Wait until after this upcoming season to gauge Kevin Love's long-term future.

Mike Malone will have a bigger effect on DMC's D than Mile Brown

Like DMC with Kyrie a lot more than Noel
If he improves defensively and gets more strength he will realize his potential alongside Kyrie. Mike Brown would be good for him IMO.

If I'm the Wizards I'm taking a chance on Bennett. They aren't as bad as their record shows when Wall returned to form and Beal was healthy they were .500. Porter is a day one guy who's very skilled on both ends but Bennett could potentially be an all star who could get you 20 and 10. Playing him at the 4 with Wall and Beal would be $, Porter is good but no where near the upside of Bennett

The team is taking Otto.

Anyone who doesn't believe so or think they should can all jump off of a cliff.

The only player I could see compelling someone to trade up is Anthony Bennett if he was 2 inches taller he would be the number 1 pick locked up
i actually think it benefits him being his height , he moves incredibly well and

his game is incredibly advanced for his age

The last time people on here so certain that one player was going to better than the other because of their "ceiling" was Johnny Flynn & Stephen Curry.

I'ma stick to Otto ending up the better player and all of you hoping on his **** on 5 years saying "I didn't know he was capable".

if I'm the kings I ask the cavs to take salmons or thornton
I'd rather keep Thornton than throw him in as a salary dump.... He still brings something to the team.

Salmons, not so much.

Can someone tell me bout bennet i only seen him play vs unc and he seemed unimpressive

I couldn't tell you how much upside Otto has, but that dude is a brilliant basketball player. He had stretches of games, or games period, where he did not make more than 1 or 2 mistakes while being the hub on both ends. I know it's cliche to talk about 'IQ' and the little things and never taking a play off- but it applies here. I think most comparisons (ie Tayshaun Prince) undersell how good of a shooter he is too.

He carved up that 2-3 zone w. his mid-range j. I think he's going to be MUCH better offensively than Tayshaun Prince.

Otto is good but honestly all i remember is hin choking in the ncaa tournament i still hope we select him it'll be to real

That whole GTown team was rattled and shocked against FGCU.

I wouldn't look too into that loss. Bennet went down round 1 as well

I like his game and I agree he does have great "basketball iq" but I think his game is more built for college then the NBA. In my opinion Bennett is further from his ceiling than Porter. Porter doesn't do anything great, he will have problems creating his own shot with more athletic defenders, he's just solid all around but he's already basically who he is.
