Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

I don't understand how y'all are still so big on Shabazz like he has little to zero redeeming qualities as a player. UCLA's system wasn't the best but still, he had like 5 assists the whole year.

Loving Schroeder though, reminds me of Rondo

Scott Brooks needs to be fired if they don't.

I refuse to believe Lamb and PJIII couldn't have contributed last season.

If the cavs somehow ended up with Noel and Shabazz

theyre not gonna win the playoffs anyway. the heat is going to win it again and again.

I like Ricky Ledo on OKC to take Kevin Martin's role.

Lamb needs to step into that starting 2 spot next season
They gonna let Lamb actually get a shot?

it's our MO.. harden barely played his rookie season.. westbrook was moved into the starting lineup when PJ was fired and allowed to go through his growing pains

i see us letting martin walk.. then lamb will play good mins next season (around15 mins or so).. reggie jackson, if he isnt traded for us to move up, will be our main 6th guy (i assume he plays close to 30 mins per, playing with and without westbrook).. then jackson will get traded next summer if he isnt traded during this draft

PJ3 is who i'm worried about.. i'm not sure if he will get consistent mins.. since brooks will just do what he has already done with other guys with lamb and jackson

Not huge on Perry but watching Lamb rock a suit to each game while he could have been getting Kevin Martins minutes was :x

Brooks gonna Brooks

Never thought I'd see the day that I'd see in a prospect's description that he "could be the next Lance Stephenson" as a compliment

Thinking about how nice the Otto pick will be for the Wiz....

How bad are the Wizards regretting the Jan Vesely pick now? Leonard but more importantly Vucevic and Faried went in the 15-20 range

That Scout has gotta be mopping floors for the Minnesota Lynx now :smh:

^ I always felt he would bust i have a hard time trust european players, for every 3 great players you can find 10 who bust from the euro crop

Right now im hoping he can at least become serviceable

Just gotta get what you can out of Veesly...he's good for running the floor, dunks, and fouls..maybe the Coaches can convince him to become an energy and rebounds guy off the bench..still a waste of a top 10 pick tho :smh:

On a contending, well-coached team I guarantee Vesely would contribute. It was just a bad pick for a terrible, immature Wizards team at the time that needed a lot more than an off the bench hustle player.

Yeah right.

Jan was getting dogged in summer league by dudes who will never play a single NBA minute. I seriously doubt he'd even be a starter on most D-1 college teams right now.

Why is it that other players have stepped up and responded to Wittman's coaching but somehow Jan still sucks? At some point, the responsibility HAS to fall on the player.

Look at this quote and tell me this is on the coaching staff:

One of the recurring questions during Thursday’s exit interviews with the Wizards was about Jan Vesely’s lack of confidence. A.J. Price gave some insight into what exactly is freaking Vesely out.

“I’ve heard it out of his own mouth,” Price explained. “He doesn’t like to go to the free-throw line, because everybody’s watching. It’s a confidence thing, so you know exactly what the issue is with him. It’s up to him to find that piece, or that confidence. However he’s going to find it, it’s up to him to find it.”

Vesely was a 30.8 percent free-throw shooter this season, the worst on the team by a large margin. Maybe it would it help if we all closed our eyes when he went to the line, so he could feel like no one’s looking at him.

:smh:

A pick that should have never been made.

Well thats not true.

Jan played in a sort of gimmick defense that was perfectly suited for his skills, playing SF using athleticism and length at the head of a zone like, full court pressing scheme, he was pressuring ball handlers, getting steals and blocks on the weak side.

Translating that to the NBA was going to take a VERY creative head coach.

Jan was a huge risk from the beginning.

He'd be better than a Kyle Korver type if he had any dribbling ability. Too one dimensional of a player given his athletic ability.

Kyle Korver? What?

How many of Kyle Korvers fingers would I have to break to get him to shoot below 40 percent from the college three point line. Over under 4.5?

Yeaaah, if dude is really scared to go to the free throw line because "everyone's watching him" then I might have to take back what I said. Dude needs to go to a sports psychologist.

Agreed. He doesn't have any of the consistency of Kyle Korver. I was confused by that comparison even more when they said he could be a late 1st rounder.

Southerland does have the rachet though, not Korver level but he can get you 3 trey's a game atleast. If he works hard on his defense he could be a very serviceable rotation guy
