Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

Aside from a couple of nice dunks he's had this past season - what has Harrison Barnes done that made you say "OMG, this dude has it"..

...........

....I'll wait.

We'll answer that after you explain why you think Ryan Hollins > Chris Bosh.

He's only trash because he isn't on the Cavs

He's been the most inconsistent rookie picked in the top-5 last year. He has no defense, can't rebound for the life of him - and I've seen guards 6'5-6'6 out body him.

Trust me, I've watched enough of him to determine that he'll probably be poor-man's Darius Miles in this league...and that's considered trash.

FF - you know how I feel about him.

Given his role, I thought Barnes had the 3rd best rookie year outside of Lillard and Davis. He stayed healthy, was a starter on a playoff team and was able to establish a role on his team while other rookies were figuring out exactly who they were. MKG and Beal were the main two guys people were saying would be better than Barnes. They very well may end up being better, but I'm still taking Barnes as of now.

His play in the postseason was probably better than anything I've seen out of the rookie class outside of Lillard. He did that on the biggest stage. Seems to me he's one of those guys that's not afraid of the big stage and it showed.

^ you wylin' B.. And wasn't he picked 7th? :nerd:

My whole thing with the Cavs is IDK why they decided to go with such a small backcourt

Bron told the FO no to the Amare deal because his decision was already made. Simple as that.

AT has always hated on Barnes

I would've loved the pick. Otto makes perfect sense this year so we'll see what we do.

Gotta get in the top 3
bron told the front office no? you know good and damn well that is not the truth so knock it off

Cavs really ****** up not picking barnes or Drummond last year. im not sure if Dion is a career NBA starter, proably better in the 6th man role and coming in to get buckets

i like otto but i see more Loul deng in him where he should be a 3rd option on a team then paul george where he can be a legit 2nd option and carry a team.Cavs need a legit 2nd option next to Kyrie

Yeaah, leave it up to NT to determine that the Cavs really ****** up by not picking up Barnes..........and decided to go with Dion Waiters and Zellar instead..

Henz - you right he was picked 7th. My bad.

Waiters plays like he's 6"6 anyway...that was well known before he got drafted too.

Animal Thug you need to stop being so sensitive whenever opinions are brought up about the cavs.

As much as you say NT doesn't know what's gonna happen with Dion, neither do you.

I don't know if Waiters' future projects him being a starter on a good team. Barnes on the other hand, does. And he did. Dude had his coming out party and I don't see why he can't eventually become a future All-Star. Everyone always said his game would translate better in the pros than it did in college. He's going to be a real good one.

Believe what y'all want.

I can't defend my dude AT with the way he thinks of Barnes because I like HB and was convinced he'd be a Cav

Waiters has been solid, but we still had a poop year

Who cares though. This is the 2013 draft. Lets focus on that

 @ 'stop being so sensitive" - I thought we're just arguing sports here?

JJ's you can't be an all-star with inconsistent numbers like Barnes had.

^ just look his numbers through his first year. Granted he's a rookie and he'll probably become a bit better; but I don't see him making much of an impact in his career.

Shabazz and Barnes's game are very similar too.

Did you watch the playoffs? He stepped it up big time...in a way that's going to be good for him to build off of. I don't see why he can't be a 15ppg scorer who shoots around 45% from the floor next year. Year 3 is when he's going to take a HUGE leap with his development. Warriors have a ridiculous nucleus with Curry/Thompson/Barnes.

:smh:

Reminds of the Cavs not wanting to trade for Bosh because they had JJ Hickson :rolleyes

It was the Cavs not wanting to trade for Amare because they didn't want to give up Hickson.
And it was also Animal Thug that didn't want Chris Bosh because they already had Ryan Hollins.

Thinks Harrison Barnes is picked in the Top 5, doesn't remember that Thomas Robinson exists.

How in god's name is he like Darius Miles? You just got done saying Barnes wasn't explosive, and that's ALL Miles was coming into the league off the dribble.

Mr. Mod, keep your contradicting, ridiculous, and heinous posts coming each day. Love each and every one of them equally

Let's also reminisce on the time the Cavs didn't trade Wally Szczerbiak's expiring contract in 2009 because they liked team chemistry.

Good times.

Which also was the same year Wally had his notorious dreadful 3-point shooting percentage in the playoffs.. 16%, that led him to not being signed by any teams the following off-season and his career being effectively over.

Good times.

can they afford those 3?

wouldn't they have to sign an extension so that they can maneuver around

david lee's contract?

Thread derailed.

I'm done.
No definitely, refrain from even acknowledging your statements. I know it's too far out of the realm of possibility for you to even admit there's a chance you were wrong. Always deflecting. When you want to talk basketball and not just talk speak in cringe-worthy black-and-whites (players that are on the Cavs are good and if they're NOT yet they have a future, and for anyone that's not on the Cavs, the exact opposite) let us know.

Saw this on Twitter yesterday:
‏@SethDavisHoops: NBA Draft thought of the day: Can someone give me a reason why Archie Goodwin is rated higher than Tim Hardaway Jr? I can't think of one.
Gotta say, I really agree with him. Hardaway Jr. can light it up from long-range man and will do so in the pros I think... at the very least he'll have the Quincy Pondexter effect for a really good team and be a quality bench player, which is all you can really ask for at that point in the draft. And I just believe Goodwin is raw and has defensive potential, but will have a hard time getting the best out of his ability unless drafted into a miraculous situation.

He's 2 years younger, he can dribble & he's more athletic. They both suck on defense but i think Archie is more fixable.

Hardaway can shoot it better but he's streaky. Personally think JR will have done well if he can last 5 years in the NBA and be it not because of who his daddy is. I am not a fan.
