Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

I'd personally only consider Nerlens Noel or Ben McLemore with the first pick.

Am I crazy to think Oladipo over McLemore?
I just think he's more NBA ready, he's as good athletically as anybody in the draft and will be a good defender from day one. His offensive improved a lot last year as well. McLemore doesn't know how great he is and I think it will take time until he blossoms.

Not at all. I'm close to sharing the same sentiment.

Elite defense. Very good athleticism. I just question the consistent outside jumper.

McLemore legitimately disappeared the first two games of the tourney.

victor oladipo is very nba ready and i would take him over almost anyone in this draft

just based of his style , dude is a winner and plays bigger than his size

he could end up being a tweener though

wade is a better and more dynamic playmaker

but they both play huge for 2 guards and are

strong as hell , oladipo just comes from that

always give 100 percent team first mentality

I think Flash was more developed offensively coming out of Marquette than Vic (IU).
Yea wade was buckets at Marquette and the main scoring option too..Victor has a high ceiling for his offensive game to develop though..Just up to the teams to judge whether or not they think he can be a all star level scorer to go with his great defense

Wade did work out of the pick and roll, his play making at Marquette was superb, Oladipo doesn't have near the handle or the passing instincts.

Wade was a PG/SG, Oladipo is SG/SF .

Oladipo's handle is high and loose and showed nothing in the way of advanced moves, hesitations, crossovers, he's is a freak athlete, and is a physical marvel, but any Wade comparison are underrating how good wade was in college.

Watch the Bobcats are gonna draft Oladipo and have him, Kemba, MKG and Biyombo full court press every single time. That could potentially be a really good squad if they get Parker or Randle to play the 4 next year.

I have a bad feeling Cavs are about to get #5 and lose out on Porter and possibly Bennet.. I hope they don't reach and take Len as a top 5 pick.. Is he that good?

Bennett on the Cavs/Wizards is :pimp:

Pair him with any young great point guard and let him play stretch 4.

I actually love Len but I seem to be the only one in here throughout the year with that feeling. 7'0 guys with his mobility and coordination are few and far in-between. I think at worst he is Marcin Gortat which isn't that bad but I'd expect him to be a real good center. Only 19 as well.

Len can be solid but what I don't like about him is it seems like he doesn't impact the game much unless he gets touches..he turns his defense/ rebounding up only when his offense is going

Well no, I like Alex Len A LOT. Far better than Zeller actually, and that was when Zeller was considered ahead of him.

But FF asked if Len in the Top 5 was a bad pick... and it definitely would be. Like him, but he's not Top 5 worthy. Even in this draft.

Doing some reading on draft prospects and I came across this:

Here's a telling/chilling tidbit courtesy of DraftExpress: Michael Beasley, Morris Almond, Lazar Hayward and Al Thornton are the only non-big men selected in the first round in the past 10 years with a lower assist rate than Muhammad.

Ouch

Explaint o me how a guy who could be a really good player at 7'0 feet tall isn't worth a top 5 pick in a draft that is one of the weakest ever.

Think about all of the Centers who have slipped in the draft over the past 7 or 8 years, the list is huge. Len is no different.

Perfect, the T'Wolves had two of them for a significant length of time. KAAAAAHN.

Because he played well at the end of the season, but there were too many times he was just getting pushed around by ACC big men, and there's just much more where that came from in the NBA of course. I do recognize that he played pretty well against Noel, a household defensive name.

Don't think he's worth a Top 5 pick... with guys like Noel, McLemore, Bennett, Burke, Oladipo, etc. who I believe all have lower bust potential and still a tremendous amount of upside. Off-topic, but I don't believe in Porter at all.
