Official 2013 NBA Draft Thread

Tony allen is a worse comparison than d wade and russ, oladipo can get to the rim better than anyone in the draft and has a explosive first step, tony allen is a complete liability on offense

I just dont see oladipo playing pg his first season like d wade and russ
What has Oladipo shown to make us believe that he'll ever play PG?

Completely agree. Kid can score. Poor man's Lillard. Cooked Duke in the tourney year ago.

Nobody is saying Black Falcon is the best player in the class. Him and Waiters are pretty close. I personally prefer Barnes. He showed flair and flashes of brilliance offensively in the playoffs against SA.

AD, Lillard, Drummond, Beal. Black Falcon and Waiters after that.

Give me jeremy lamb and rivers before waiters

Lets see who Stern feels needs the 1 pick most tonight....

Alot of cases for couple teams.
Magic lost Howard
Kings new owners
Bobcats - Jordan's image needs rebuilding and team is terrible
Pistons- new owner in 2011 hasn't been rewarded top 5 pick yet and league 2nd lowest attendance
Thunder-?????? What if????
NO- back to back 1 picks

C'mon Stern who is it?

I'm slightly losing faith in Sub Zero.

I have full confidence in Jeremy Lamb growing into a Kevin Martin-type role.

I wish you could bet on who would get the number 1 pick

I have the kings getting it just cause of Stern.

With the Lakers and Knicks both out of the playoffs, NBA conspiracy theorists have been getting a bit bored. It's difficult to come up with a plausible motive for David Stern to potentially set up a Grizzlies vs. Pacers NBA Finals series. But have no fear: the Super Bowl of sports conspiracy theories, the NBA Draft Lottery, arrives at 8:30 p.m. ET Tuesday.

To save you the trouble of tracking down conspiracy theorists to see what they have learned about how the ping pong balls will drop, we've put together a compendium of theories that results in a lottery win for each team. Enjoy.

MoreSB Nation's complete coverage of the NBA Draft lottery

Orlando Magic:  Cleveland lost LeBron James in 2010 and won the lottery in 2011. The Hornets lost Chris Paul in 2011 and won the lottery in 2012. The Magic lost Dwight Howard in 2012. You do the math. Not content at stacking the deck against superteams in the collective bargaining agreement, David Stern has placed his finger on the scale to help teams rebuild quickly.

Charlotte Horncats:  Stern continues to owe Michael Jordan for retiring from a promising baseball career and preventing Shawn Kemp, Karl Malone and Patrick Ewing from becoming NBA champions. The league could never have recovered from any of those guys becoming the face of basketball. (And yes, Horncats is a thing.)

Cleveland Cavaliers:  Multiple lottery victories were included in the blood oath signed by Stern and Cavs owner Dan Gilbert that led to Gilbert dropping tampering charges against the Heat. Had Gilbert continued his crusade, the Heat's 2011 Southeast Division title would have been vacated, and LeBron may have been Chris Webber'd out of history. Nerlens Noel is a small price to pay to prevent that.

Phoenix Suns:  "Why is Robert Sarver carrying around that designer handbag? And why is there a glitchy film cut before the ball hopper is started? My God, did Sarver sneak loaded ping pong balls in via his wife's handbag? His wife must have told him to bring her back the No. 1 pick in a designer handbag ... interesting ..."
Our pre-lottery mock draft
Tom Ziller's last mock draft before the real order is set.

New Orleans Pelicans: Louisiana's hastily rewritten lemon law apparently covers horrible lottery picks. Pelicans owner Tom Benson is threatening to file for a refund for the team if the NBA doesn't make up for the lousy Austin Rivers selection pronto. Just months from retirement, David Stern really doesn't need this mess.

Sacramento Kings:  This one is too easy. Sacramento keeps its team, David Stern needs to look smart. So he grants the Kings the No. 1 pick to build even more excitement for a 2013-14 season that will likely land the team back in the lottery for the bajillionth straight season.

Detroit Pistons: David Stern has major stock in General Motors. A rising tide raises all boats. Wake up, sheeple.

Washington Wizards: Nice Presidential scandals you've got there, Republican Party. Would be a shame if something happened to them. Something like blazing liberal David Stern distracting the Beltway media circuit with a shiny new Nerlens Noel. The vast left-wing sports conspiracy strikes again. So transparent.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Cleveland lost LeBron in 2010 and won the lottery in 2011. The Hornets lost Chris Paul in 2011 and won the lottery in 2012. The Wolves lost Michael Beasley in 2012. You do the math. Also, Glen Taylor was long a loyal owner and Board of Governors chairman for Stern. He's looking to offload the team. Nerlens Noel boosts the value of the team by the equivalent of one suburban strip mall.

Portland Trail Blazers:  David Stern is looking for a gently used yacht to take out on the open ocean in retirement. Paul Allen drives a hard bargain. In this case, a franchise center with no injury concerns whatsoever.

Philadelphia 76ers: To try to convince the drugged-up, naive masses, David Stern brings officials from the accounting firm Ernst & Young to the lottery to verify the legitimacy of the lottery. Ernst & Young, huh? That firm is lousy with Sam Hinkie's old MIT buddies. Looks like the verisimilitude of this event has been ... [puts on sunglasses] ... deep-sixed. [yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhh]

Toronto Raptors: Tim Leiweke left Illuminati party planners AEG to run the Raptors. No one can explain why. No one. But we find it very peculiar  that Leiweke would choose the only NBA team outside of the United States of America. Either he's running from the law or he's assembling a business empire that plans a hostile takeover of freedom and liberty. Something smells funny.

Dallas Mavericks: This is David Stern's final draft lottery. He no doubt wants to leave a hint for future investigators. A calling card, if you will. No better way to nod at the conspiracy theorists than to hand victory to the city where modern conspiracy theory was born, especially considering that city has truly abysmal odds of winning straight-up.

Utah Jazz:  The presence of three small market teams in the NBA's final four is actually a David Stern conspiracy after all! He wants to show that his lockout reforms worked as planned, and people are gullible enough to believe that nonsense. This will allow his successor Adam Silver to enact even more regressive salary rollbacks in 2017, all in the name of competitive balance and parity. Getting a small market fringe playoff team like Utah a top pick will certainly help the cause next season. The small market conspiracy continues unabated!

Sleep on austin, just had a bad rookie year dealing with injuries, he will def have a better career than dion

Henson, Lamb and Kidd-Gilchrist are all going to be better than at least a couple of those people. Maybe even currently.

Utah is going to be all over McCollum.

Henson is going to be a top rebounder in the league I think he can eventually be a atleast a 15 12 2 guy. I like how much he's improved his aggressiveness at the next level. Lamb unfortunately is on a team coached by Scott Brooks, who doesn't even know he's on the team. If he gets out of there he can flourish, smooth jumper, great size, doesn't force offense and is a deceptively good athlete. MKG I'm not sold on, for a kid who played at the highest level in HS & College, he's incredibly under developed offensively. His jumper is poor, not good at putting the ball on the floor, no real post game. He can finish at the rim but is only getting there in transition or cutting. He's the goods size wise and defensively but I would have taken a couple players over him but Bobcats going to be Bobcats.

McCollum in Utah is nice, they could use his scoring ability. He already has NBA range, will stretch the floor for Utah bigs and create offensive rebound chances.

I love Henson's rebounding and defensive ability (blocking shots), but I wonder how much better his offense can get.

Lamb and Rivers over Waiters?

Lamb Maybe b/c he didn't get much chance to show what he can do but Rivers? really?? We all saw what he did when he stepped on the court. Can't finish anything around the basket. Give me Waiters all day before Rivers. At least he knows how to finish around the basket.

And as for Lillard and Drummond, as good as Lillard was this year, I'd take Drummond considering his long term potential. Drummond still doesn't know what to do when he's on the court yet he averaged 8/8/2 in 20 min. Lillard put up good numbers because he's good but also because he was used extensively for a rookie. I don't think his career number will improve that much from what he posted in his rookie year. Plus I don't think he's a perennial all-star as some claim him to be. I think he'll always be in the discussion but not always make the All-star team.

I see it going Waiters > Lamb > Rivers, long term.

Thought I liked Drummond's game, but you guys seem to even more than me. He's a man child.

I wish you could bet on who would get the number 1 pick

Noels in Sac him and Boogie! I've heard Tyson Chandler as a comparison for Noel and to me that's not worth a #1 but I guess it's by default.

What is MKG ceiling ?Deng?

Long term? Nah waiters look like he got that b diddy/felton syndrome and become a out of shape player once he loses the motivation, especially if he stays in cle

Very odd that we don't see the actual lottery. And by very odd, I mean not odd at all. Hornets getting the first pic.

Betting on the draft lottery should basically be the litmus test for whether you have a gambling problem.
