I'll concede to 4H, but the "C" in YMCA kind of gives away its religious affiliations.

Aren't the Boy Scouts a Christian organization? I know here in Arizona that a lot of the Scouts are run by the Mormon Church. If they arent cool with gay leaders and scouts, and they are the ones running the troops, why should they have to accommodate them? How many gay 8 year old kids are there anyway?

Homosexual=/= pedophile. I say that because that is what many are concerned about. Also some people may feel as if a gay man is setting a bad example for the children. That's the parent's choice whether or not they want to place their child in a gay man's care. Whether you like it or not, that's what it boils down to.

The best part about this is that HTG Designs quoted this and said "THIS." and then quoted someone in agreement when they said that they hate when people compare race and sexuality...as if the former was a more valid comparison.

the BSA provides service for communities throughout the US and helps many young men learn important life lessons and knowledge, while at the same time providing positive role models. it might not be "cool" but it does amazing things and was probably the most positive influencing organization I have ever experienced personally.

As for the religion aspect, I was and am an atheist and still was able to thrive as a scout. If you can tolerate the services and beliefs of others it really isn't a problem. There are always aspects of groups that you won't agree with. Just have to give and take, especially since for me the good outweighed the bad.

I was gonna say it's unlikely to be saying there are gay 8 year olds but I was feeling up on girls when I was 8, did nastier when I was younger and was not confused at all.

Any parent who fears for their kid's safety solely based on the fact that their scout leader is gay is an idiot. I feel sorry for children that are raised by such ignorant parents.
