People really rocking the T-Skirts?

mean.gif
buncha haters in here.

let these boys cook.

If i seen Lupe dressed like that in real life I'd be like "Damn Lupe be on some futeristic style type." Wouldn't arise any emotion in me.

Same with Asap and Kanye's skirts or whatever.

It seems like we as Black men are not comfortably with our masculinity at all.
would you go to an upscale event in a dress and socks with no shoes? lol.  If you show up with no shoes to  the grammys expect to get clowned just like how jay z clowned the dream for what he was wearing.  LMAO

Just for laughs, what would be appropriate attire to something like the Grammys and why?

Hov clowned the dream for what he was wearing? Or did Hov take time out of his own Grammy speech to shout out The Dream's outfit?

I looked at that as Hov bigging up The Dream for not giving an eff about an award he previously gave all the effs in the world about.

Would I go to an upscale event in a dress and socks with no shoes? Probably not, but that's just not my style. Lupe pulled it off, though. I'm not into martial arts like he is, so I wouldn't be able to rock it like he did.

Used to be a day when men weren't always scared that they were aroused by other men or arousing other men.

well I would go in a suit or tux. There is no rule in what to wear to the grammys but if your gonna dress all crazy like that expect people to crack jokes on you.  What would you wear to the grammys?   lol I'm sure it wouldn't be anything close to what Lupe or The Dream was wearing.

well you have your opinion and i have mine.  I took it as Jay Z busting on him for that corny hat lol and I don't think Lupe pulled anything off besides making himself look like a fool.  My opinion at least.

There are rules on what you can wear to the grammy's. CBS sent us all an email with guidelines.

Cool. As long as you're making it known that your opinion is not the way it is, just like my opinion is not the way it is.

Your opinion is that a Boyz N The Hood motion picture hat is corny. Meanwhile I haven't seen one of those in a long time and it reminds me of how ill the movie was in contrast to the empty whiteness of the rest of the Grammys.

My opinion at least.

The memo reads: "Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered," the statement reads. "Thong-type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare, fleshy under-curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under-curvature of the breasts is also problematic."

In addition, the memo states that the genital region must be "adequately covered so that there is no visibly 'puffy' bare skin exposure" and "sheer, see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples," is inappropriate.

Commercial identification of brand name products and any organized cause visibly spelled out are to be avoided. The memo concluded "OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST."

When I was in high school around '03, everyone was rocking Jeff Hamilton leathers, throwbacks, and basically trying to join either the LOX or Dipset.

Then there was this kid who rocked BAPE hoodies and Supreme and AlphaNumeric and Stussy and Nike Dunk SB's. His jeans were skinny and he skated in his Randy Moss Jumpans and True Blue III's because he said they were the best for the tricks he was trying to do.

It was crazy; like one summer he's a normal dude dressing normal, then he comes back from vacation looking mad suspect. Nobody could rock with him after he started dressing like that and he just started hanging out with different people until he didn't really chill with anyone around the way anymore.

Everybody hated that kid, and everybody clowned him.

Now everybody is trying to be like him.

'Sall i'm saying, man.

To an upscale event yeah i would wear a suit.  just like if i got a job interview for a job that everyone wears suits too.   Say you get a job interview to be a ceo of a company. Are you gonna show up in jeans and a hoody and expect to be taken seriously?  Or a skirt over some skinny jeans with no shoes on?  lol of course not your gonna rock a suit. By the way I currently don't own a suit but if an upscale event is coming up or if I get offered a job that requires rocking suits best believe I will invest my money in a few and make sure I get them tailored so there not all baggy looking on me either.

Bruh if i get a job interview to be a CEO of a company I'll where whatever I want. That company wants me to be the CEO, so they already know how I roll and want me to lead them. I don't know if you realize just how many CEO's actually do show up in jeans and a hoody and are taken extremely seriously.

I don't think you're grasping the fact that a suit isn't the end all be all of "professional" masculine attire. You've been told that this is the purpose for a suit and so you rock with it, and there's nothing wrong with that. But don't be so naive to assume that what defines a "professional" look through your lens is completely universal. It's really not that hard to comprehend.

ok let me state it different.  Say you are applying for the position and so are 100 other people.   Would you still rock what ever to the interview?

How does that situation compare to the Grammys or performing on stage? If anything the CEO thing would make more sense.

So either I need to be the best example of what's already accepted, or I'm faceless and need to blend in?

Get outta here. That's the divide between my opinion and yours, right there.

I was just stating what I'd wear a suit to. what would you rock to the grammys if you were up for an award?

can you name other professional attires, leave culture out of this.

LOL at leave culture out of this. You want everybody to share the same Eurocentric belief of what it is to dress like a professional man, but unfortunately for you it just doesn't work like that son. No matter how bad you want it to, and I'm done with it.

It really depends on how I'm feeling that day or week.

sir, please do me a favor and show me some examples of attire other men wear in any other part of the world thats considered formal, or say something a man would choose to wear to a formal/business event.

I'm not here to give a history lesson, I don't get a license to do that for another year. Examples have already been posted in this thread but as usual you just chose to ignore them. There is no one universal standard for professional attire, I'm sorry.
