Ant,

Question for YOU. At what point should gender lines be drawn?

Not trying to extreme it but if you had a some that wanted to be a, "Princess boy" you would just be accepting of it and be thankful that you got a healthy boy? There wouldn't be any regret?

Baggy clothes are not the same as panties, bras, tights and skirts, buddy.

Baggy jeans are a style of dressing guy, stop tryna play stupid like you don't know I'm comparing trends not specific articles of clothing. Smart guy over here. :\

Plenty of kids are born gay, tho. I knew kids back in kindergarten who we knew would grow up to be gay, and they did. I'm not even talking about that, I just don't like dudes trying to act like its acceptable for heterosexuals to be wearing women's clothing.

I feel like you trollin', but I'll play along. How about this, there is nothing effeminate about wearing jeans (unless they are skin tight), but there is something effeminate about wearing bras, panties, tights and skirts.

Eg. people try to make skinny or fitting clothes about gender, when men have been wearing that ish since the 70s and it just had a rebirth. If my son is gay, and wants to dress like a princess I'd let him. If he's straight and chooses to wear tights because he's a hipster I DON'T CARE. Your grandfather's went through the same nonsense with your parents "dressing funny", this is just history repeating itself.

Ant,

why are you bringing up times/locations of the world that aren't present. It doesn't matter what folks used to do. It doesn't matter what our Ibo Brothers do/did. Here in America, .................let me stop. You got it. Don't want to go in circles. You know where I am going. No point of me finishing it

[/SIZE]

Why not because you said so? You're the historical authority on fashion, and it wasn't just men in power that dressed like that. In Nigerian Ibo culture old dudes in the village rock "wrappers" basically a skirt/towel wrap. A lot of them aint in power. Not only royalty in Scotland rock Kilts. Dudes are just reaching for arguments at this point. If you don't like, YOU DON'T WEAR.
dude, don't say that bout africa! africa is the land of straight heterosexual males. I mean, everyone knows the american government is out there to emasculate men and questionable clothign has never been worn by men throughout history DUH!

How dare you emasculate my heroes by their fashion style!

If a gay dude wants to wear something like that, it is expected, but these dudes trying to act like it isn't womanly to wear tights. I just don't like dudes trying to act like its acceptable for heterosexuals to be wearing women's clothing.

Yea but that is only considered effeminite in certain cultures. Refer to where I posted men wearing tights and skirts, fashion was not invented in Washington Heights in the 90s. You have no authority over what's appropriate and what is not.

So where is the line drawn? Is it not gay style for a man to walk around in buttless chaps? Bra and panties? Lipstick? Makeup?

Well I don't know what time period or culture you live in, but I live in the United States of America in 2013 and it is considered womanly for a man to wear tights and a skirt, that is what I am saying.

You noticed I never said ANYTHING about him being GAY.

I asked how would you feel as a man if your son wanted to go around dressing like a princess.

Would you be cool with that and would you use the, "Ohhhhhhh he is free to do as he pleases" card.

DC, would you be ok with your daughter wanting to be a "princess girl"?
...
When it comes to THIS situation, I would prefer traditional dressing schemes for my child.

I said THIS situation because I pick and chose when I want to respect tradition.

I am human. I am a hypocrite.

If my kid was gay, It is what it is. I can't change how someone is, life is short and they are free to live it how they want. I have gay people in my family anyways and I don't treat them any other way than I would treat a straight person. Now if my son was straight and came in the house with some tights and a skirt on? I am free to clown him to the end of time.

Who the hell says a line needs to be drawn? Ok now we are taking it to buttless chaps and lipstick. The argument is evolving to extremes. The only straight men I could remember who took it that far are power metal bands of the 80s, but those dudes bagged more women than all of us combined.

BDW lol @ people assuming wearing a bra and "female" clothes make you gay. Do people realize that the majority of "cross-dressers" are actually straight men? It's a paraphilia, it's actually not gay at all. They get sexually aroused by putting on women's clothes, and it has nothing to do with homosexual desires.

Got damn dude. DId you hear me say ANYTHING about sexual orientation?

I didn't mention anything about him being GAY.

Why are you so stuck on me saying that when I didn't even AXE that question

Reread my post. I know what you were saying and I addressed it in my last sentence.

O.K. then, it isn't "gay" it is "effeminate". The term is often used interchangeably in certain environments.

Not for me.

See, I find that this response to be the smartest response in threads like this.

It's acknowledgment of the differences in taste, which I think is fundamental to the conversation.

One size doesn't have to fit all, fashion pun intended. It's ok to voice your dislike for some article of fashion, but just as well it's important to understand that your opinion is just that, your individual opinion. Someone else is completely justified in liking the very item you find distasteful. And you need to understand and respect that.
