THE AMERICANS on FX -- Season 2 Finale: "Echo" ... Tonight at 10/9c

man I forgot all about this show, I thought S2 was starting in late March

gonna watch the first 2 episodes right now

Didn't even know there was a thread for this show  missed last night's episode though.

Is FX is finally on the wave of putting new episodes on demand the next day with The Americans? I know they finally started doing it for Justified.

Per Deadline.com, the show's "second season debut episode vaulted 81% in adults 18-49 (1.57 million, up from 863,000) and 72% in overall audience (3.26 million, from 1.9 million). For comparison sake, last year the series’ unveiling climbed 48% in demo and 44% in total viewers when Live+3 was factored in."

Season 2's debut is getting solid if not great critical reviews also.

Good to hear, I only ask cuz I didn't see too much promotion for this show this year.. granted I haven't watched TV as much but the commercials haven't been as rampant as they were for the first season. This season's off to a great start, there's not too much filler because we know the characters already.

Yep.  Checked last week and the premiere was up on Thursday.

Good. I hated the way they did/do it with SOA. You have to wait until the newest episode premieres to see the previous weeks episode :smh:

Are people just not watching this show or what? This thread is so dead.

I think...to the outsider, The Americans might look boring or weird or too serious or a chick thing or for old people.

Iono...the new way things are, where shows like True Detective and House of Cards can come outta the gate hyped is weird to me. Cuz I remember it being like this in like high school. There'd be a really clever, well done show on and immediately I'm thinking...bet no one watches it...

And just about without fail...Friday Night Lights...Battlestar...Arrested ...Firefly. You couldn't make your friends watch those. Instead they just wanted to watch 24 and WWF and Prison Break and Simpsons reruns.

If it was different and maybe not easy to explain to someone real quick? And they couldn't just 'get it' in a scene, and it didn't have the music video shooting style or punchlines or sex and action and loud cliffhangers. No big names and PYTs? Nope.

Hell even for HBO, you could not make people who got the channel watch Deadwood or The Wire early on. People just wanted to watch Entourage and zombie Sopranos.

It always felt like the exception if something like this got attention. Like I expected it when no one would watch Breaking Bad those first 2 years. So it's normal to me when no one watches Hannibal or The Americans or Orphan Black, but they'll put on mediocre **** like The Walking Dead and Dexter and The Following.

People just wait til it's cancelled or over and if anyone's still talking about it they'll binge watch and say...damn, wish I woulda caught it....

I know you're not putting 24 in the same sentence with those 2

I think as a whole, FX shows fall under the radar. There's always the exceptions like The Shield or Sons but for the most part shows like Louie, Legit, Terriers etc don't get talked about a lot. Hell, even Rescue Me and Damages weren't popular like that when they first came out and they had arguably their two biggest recognizable names.

Don't get me wrong...24 days 4 and 5 are forever. But still. ...and I had Sons of Anarchy in my head, but it slipped my mind. :smh:

But yeah, that's the thing though...Americans pilot got better ratings than AHS. I think people were just hoping for a basic cable Homeland, and when they got something more like the Mad Men version of La Femme Nikita, they hit the parachutes.

It's not like people don't know what it is or that it's there...they're just waiting to hear it had a hype season 3 or 4. Probably would've helped if got onto Netflix instead of Amazon Prime.

Basically, ppl are dumb.

I feel this way about Rubicon. I'm no longer disappointed about this happening to great shows though. I expect it more times than not.

That show lights out was good as well, but failed to attract attention.

Dude did look like Rust Cohl in that disguise

Season so far has been great, did not drop a step at all.

Keri is damn fine :pimp:

Keri used to be ruthless, but she grew a heart. Whereas Phil shot that kid in the kitchen in the premiere.

I enjoyed the scene with Phil.. straight cold.

This chick Paige  0 dambs.

sidebar: Fargo looks interesting.

Damn. Phil put some menace on that.

And yeah...I thought Fargo was a weak tv idea, but the ads are working. I just can't tell if it's gonna be serious or Bates Motel.

Paige acting all reckless

I guess she'll find out what her parents do by end of season

I still can't tell if Nina's better at this than Stan, or if he has a feeling she might flip and is in for the long con.

Good ep. Keri ain't got that much of a heart.

And look, Phil tried to be the ruthless one, and he just pushed Paige to do more.

And her lil bro must've just watched the original Cosmos.

They manage to get so much done in one episode, every time. And it's never rushed and it always looks easy.
