THE AMERICANS on FX -- Season 2 Finale: "Echo" ... Tonight at 10/9c

Loved the subtle touches too, eg. Elizabeth talking about how even making it to space is a great achievement

Yo this dude Phillip's disguises are BANANAS!

He was looking like the actor that looks like a younger John Ritter in the beginning of this ep when he was smashing that blonde

This is crazy.

Like where this is going. Crazy what Phil got to deal with; crazy jumpoff that you trying to keep under control, threatening the lives of ppl you really don't want to threaten, all while dealing with your kids and trying to please and love your wife.

This chick the FBI just turned is really going to make things more tense.

I will say in the back of my head I can't help but keep in mind this whole cold war spy business amounted to nothing or at least on a big scale. Wonder if they'll go real fictional with some kind of secret war or something. I haven't got to the point where I care about the characters enough that I'm nervous about their fates.

Gotta say Keri Russell is beautiful :smokin Just cuz it's emphasized so much in these eps where she also puts on a minor disguise by looking so dead and ugly with her hair up and then she comes home with her hair down and facing looking so vibrant.

Really wondering what kind of role my boy Derek Luke is gonna play on this show.

I was just thinking that same thing about Keri being :x in disguise, but then at home  :pimp:

The stuff they were taking about the tapes was interesting. They were developing forcefield shields that would protect entire countries. Next episode looks good. Might be a confrontation between Philip and Elizabeth's boyfriend.

can someone explain what the girl with the caviar was doing in the stereo shop? i was half paying attention when the fbi agent confronted her at the fruit stand

She was stealing expensive caviar from her job (Russian embassy) and trading it for equipment that she would send to family members back in Russia. They sell it at a high price and fill their pockets.

So does anyone else think that they are going to "turn American"? Seems like they are starting to show a lot of feelings and worrying about their kids' futures. Also, I just knew the jumpoff spy was about to get taken out in the car by him, haha.

I know what u mean, in the first episode Elizabeth put the mission above everything else and showed very little care for the kids. In the the second episode there's the scene were she says "im not getting arrested" when Philip sees the gun she is carrying.

But by the end of the episode she starts getting a little soft, I think that had to with the amount of risk they took doing the mission in 3 days. Elizabeth realized shes not going to be in her kids future and wants to teach her "delicate" daughter everything she can to get her prepared.

o and the fight scenes are :smokin that armbar

that's a rather petty crime for the FBI don't you think?

or maybe they just used it as leverage to get her to become an informant.

He wasn't gonna arrest her(depending on her diplomatic status level might not even been able to). He was gonna tell the Russians what she was doing, and basically told her how her and her family would be thrown into Siberian labor prisons for the next 10 years, if they found out.

YOOOO!!!! Fight scene was so intense man! :smokin

Yea she knows that they will not be around forever to teach her everything. I think realizing that she needed bras was the wake up call, lol.

It definitely had something to do with the 72 hour job and that son. They saw the pain in the mom's eyes and her referencing God had them messed up.

This and The Following are my 2 new favorite shows. Oh and when I remember to watch Real Husbands of Hollywood, haha

To me Elizabeth has always been soft but due to her training and living a rough life she puts up a hard exterior. I noticed that since the rape scene. When she's talking about the kids and how the son is like Phil but the daughter is different she all but clearly stated that the daughter is like her and would have a hard time going on without her parents. So you're def right in Elizabeth wanting to spend time and impart w/e knowledge she can on her daughter since she doesn't think she'll be alive to see grandchildren. Elizabeth is just way more guarded while Phil is more upfront and will complain more.

I want to see Philip get his fake mustache or wig knocked off in a fight.

Fox and their FX network are lucky this season since those 2 shows are the new, hit dramas. I think this show's writing is a little better.

Enjoying this show thus far.

So far so good. Still debating on stopping and waiting until the season finishes and watching them all in one shot. :smokin
